Actually that's on a private road at Shoreham Airport. And the Ricardo site in the background is Ricardo Special Vehicles - registered as a military List-X facility, so I'm not surprised the college are a bit worried about their students posting up pics. I take your point though - they've been driving the engineering cars around for quite a while now, so I can't imagine McLaren getting pissed off by the pics being posted up.

Plus they let Speedhunters do a photo tour of their factory months ago, showing these cars in various stages of production, there are no secrets these days!

New infomTion on this . The fuel line came off a caught on fire . And there valve keep snapping and dropping in to the cylinder

didnt you see the 59 plate? is been registered "On the Road" for a year now

yeah cause proto vehicles get road registered and usually have some sort of cammo etc.

at jlr we have like cars for 2013+ registered as like 59 plates so we can drive them to test them etc

When I worked on the 2010 Range Rover and RR Sport a few years ago the main cosmetic change was to the dash (switching to an LCD for the speedo etc.) - so although there was only minor external camo to hide new lamp clusters and grille, you had to fart around with sticking internal camo on the dash, instrument cluster and steering wheel everytime you parked it up. Was a proper pain in the arse!

The camo on the new XJ was pretty good though, think JLR did pretty well to hide the shape of the car for so long.

lol yeah and the evogues on the go atm just have swirly vinyl stuck on them as apposed the the large bolt on plastic pieces which completely change the shape like the xjs had

If it's on a public road or area they have no rights whatsoever to make you delete the picture, hence why motoring magazines are always catching these test cars.. most of their journalists actually sneak around the 'secret' test tracks..

Might just be testing some new components or upgrades.. as mentioned it's registered as a year old and the cars are already for sale, you can configure them on the Mclaren website.

You'd be surprised how many leaks are actually known about and planned by an OEM prior to launch- free advertising over national magazines, the only downside being sales of current products the prototype will superceed- In Mclaren's case, they don't have this problem!

Oh yeah without a doubt.. Like when Apple 'accidentally' left several iPhone 4's in clubs and bars before release.. they didn't even need to do an advertising campaign for it..
