Basicly i want to run my amp remote wire so i can control it by a switch and not have it connected to a head unit

would this be possible just my running a + 12v wire to it which has a switch and a fuse in it ????????????????

Yep, that would be fine. Personally don't think there's a need for a fuse as it won't be carrying that much current

I used to not bother either until one day there was a funny burning smell..... the sheathing on the wire wore through and it touched part of the chassis, it then doesnt have any way of cutting itself off apart from using the wire itself as a fuse. basically it just keeps burning until it has melted right through the wire at some point. I now always put fuses in, just in case!

5amp, max. The amp only uses it as a sensing feed, so it won't actually draw any current, just "sense" the voltage on the line.

You'll get away with 1amp, if you can find a fuse small enough. Remember and fuse the cable at the start!
