Quick Question!
Realised the link that i posted was wrong type of bulbs! :S Does anyone have a reccomendation for HID bulbs (blue, but legal!) for my 8v 6n? Sorry about the previous mistake.

On another note, my bulbs have 3 connectors on the back of them (main/high beam)

Wondering whether these will fit.. The bulbs look okaaay, but not sure the side lights connectors look right...

I'm sure 6N's are H4 Hi/Lo beam

But theres so many different options and stuff, i'm just trying to find the cheapest option of doing it (with sidelights).. But sometimes its hard to judge whether it will fit the car or not. Seen bulbs that WOULD fit at halfrauds, but £20 each? Jog on!

what you have in the link are not HID's or even Xenons, just some bulbs with a blue lens, the light output is identical to a normal bulb just with a blue tint which makes them seem brighter.

Proper HID bulbs come in at £50 a pair and thats just the bulbs not as a kit.

A 6n would need a Bi-xenon kit (Flexi) so to retain hi/lo functionality, they come in at around £110 a kit (full kit = bulbs x2, controller & ballasts x2)

So xenon light bulbs wouldn't be that much brighter? I was sorta just going for kinda brighter, but with a blue tinge.. Just to help on the country roads at night - the 6ns got a pair of candles attatched at the moment, like! XD

the only thing that will give a Xenon output is a HID bulb, the rest just use it as an inert gas, HID's run at 90v (thanks to the ballast) and use an arc not a filament to produce light.

just to warn you halfords laser blue (same with most tinted bulbs) are no longer MOT legal and will fail, currently its a grey area with the police but even I've been picked up for having white sidelights with a tint of blue.

tbh, if its bright and cheap you want then look at halfords rally one's, 100w/120w, they do the job brilliantly, got one car here running them as the lamp reflector fitted cant use hid's and flown through MOT's with them.

Hrmm.. Will give them a try, was at Halfords tonight. £10 each if i remember correctly..?

So anything with a blue-ish tint is just baiting the polis? :/ damnit...

seems to be now, I've passed MOT's in the past with HID's but last time round the tester was fresh off the refresher course and despite having a near perfect beam pattern i had to swap my HID's and LED's for standard bulbs for the test.

i also got pulled by a member of the local C***stabulary who proceeded to give me a lecture that my sidelight were most defiantly blue (despite his partner backing me up that they were indeed very white) and i should remove them in front of him (caught him out as not having sidelights IS illegal).

yeah, they're just as reasonable around my neck of the woods. Thanks for your help! Will go for the rally bulbs, anything will be better than the sh*t thats on the car atm
