Bought off TomGTI from Devon - Top fella and been super helpful in the whole process.

Car has had oil flush and filter change in the last 20 miles, at the same time a new clutch has been fitted along with new gear shift selector , rocker cover gasket and crankshaft gasket.

Plans: MOT & return to standard (Replacing Suspension, Exhaust & Fuelling) which will leave me with a standard 75k GT for daily use.

One of now four polos I own!

i'm probably just going to chuck on my 14x6 black steelies w/red pin strips on, when i get the 195/45 toyos put on em.

although i will get a pic of him on routays. it needs a name!

anyway, mot failed on a rear wheel bearing and carbs needing a tune, so rear wheel bearing is done and std injection system back on.

last jobs to do - fit the vacuum line hoses and fit throttle cable (which is a bitch, think my throttle cable is off an early mk2 so its not long enough for the grommet to sit in the bracket by the TB)

car drove really well when i took it up for an mot, was really impressed with it and to be fair to the wee gt, it went quite well. felt slow compared to the mk2 but id forgotten how refined the mk3 is in comparison. the mk2s an interesting drive in the morning, i can imagine this being more pleasant for a daily commute (and something I'm alot less paranoid about people smashing into)

oh and the current 4 branch hasnt had a lambda boss welded in, ill be replacing it in a week or two for the original system but how much fuss will the ecu kick up without it connected, in the mean time? should i leave it unplugged from the loom, or connected and just somewhere in the bay?

It will be over-fuelling with or without the lambda connected as the ECU can't monitor emissions either way.

Got a spare Mark3 throttle cable thats yours if you want it?

Looks tidy from the pica-tures. Need to have a wee gander at it at some point and bring ye olde fault code reader with me to check what the digital elephants are saying.

woop woop, well the ecu was up the duff, so a new one arrived delivered by mr postie today (big repsect to maxeh so getting it out for me in time)

so off it went to an mot, where the only thing it would have failed on were the lack of brake lights which was thankfully just the plug had come out the switch when i was fitting the throttle cable.

job done and a years ticket. woop!

will have new wheels, on sunday hopefully and itll be sitting properly.

now time to sort the mk1 out!

Fitted some new wheels and decent rubber, which really was a must for the winter.

The suspension is due to be replaced with eibach 40mm drop springs & OEM replacement shocks, and the standard exhaust will be going back on too, along with the standard air filter.

ill take a picture of the cars paperwork to show that the car with 75k on it, its worth keeping as original as possible, imo. some may others feel differently, plus as standard, it'll be alot more affordable and still make a top little motor for any youngster!

anyway some pictures in an unclean state from after the weekend (with a bit of g40_Pidge whoring too)

the dread bits

lil dent on rear passenger sill (most of the speckles are dirt, but you can clearly see where the impact is and the few scuff marks)

bonnet has been polished through on the swage lines

will add an up to date interior and engine bay shot tomorrow

just wanna say if i lived a little bit closer i'd be biting your arm off for this right now. looks lovely. good luck with selling it mate and i agree someone somewhere is going to be very happy with this.

thanks mate =] appreciated. bearing in mind i cant take credit for the work done to it or the condition its in, thats down to the previous owner tom-gti and those before him, they did a top job =]

i will drive it anywhere for petrol money and the return train fare home =] its a fantastic little car and i've loved driving it and would relish the thought of driving it down south. would be nice to see it return to the coast, as it came from devon =]

Why you selling it up so soon? Also in regards to the pm, I'm still trying to find out whose acutally serious.

well i needed a daily as the peril is broken again (blew the diff up) so bought this with no mot, converted back to injection and did a few other odds/sods for the mot and its been in daily action for nearly two weeks to the dot, however I'm buying a G40 from a friend, so the GT will be relieved of its daily duties.

and that will leave me with 4 cars! my limit is 1 of each mk1-3 polo and G40>GT! (however i will be swapping the GT's HnR kit over to the G and vice versa)

will pm you about the unit, we are visiting it tomo dude!
