I've had a bunch of bmw's over the years and one of my first ones was a 90's 316 that was around 1300 a year to insure, i then had a 80's 316 and that was 200 a year on classic. wish i knew that from the start :(

my mate has got a fiat tipo as his daily and his toy is an evo 4 running a proven 300bhp and its basically a race car everything is a pisstake on it. his insurance for both cars is less than what i pay for one car!

I've just got a quote on a 2.0 prelude thats in my town....95 quid!!!!! the car is on its way hahaha

i had the guy bring the prelude down, had a quick look over it and body work is a bit tatty and the clutch is slipping a bit. told him i would give him 400 for the car and 20 to cover the fuel of him picknig it up an the other lad going with him.

all the docs match up with vosa on the net, mot till july 2011 tax till end of dec. full electric pack and even comes with 17's and I've just insured it for the pricely sum of 94 quid for the year!!!

not sure on the model but its one of the early ones, its a 92, def not a vtec tho. plenty of history with it includin cambelt change at one of the services.

just need to have a proper look at it in the morning as it was nearly dark when i got it.

insurance is with some broker from confused. i checked and checked and double checked and then started again from scratch and double checked, everytime the insurance came back at 94 quid for the year.

I'm not going to drive it till I've got the docs through tho just incase. if they play their face later on ill tell them its their fuck up, they shouldnt of done it that cheap so its not my problem.

same thing happened to a mate a few year's back on his mini, one day they rang him up out the blue saying they had made a mistake on how much he should be paying and that they were upping his monthly payments, he said he wasn't going to pay it as it was their mistake and not his, so they canceled it. of cause when he tried to get re-insured on it every where else were asking for the same kinda price that his old company had tried to put it up too so he had to pay it in the end any way

yea I'm half expectin this to happen, if thats the case ill just swap it over to my other insurance so it dosnt matter to much, I'm just going to see how far i get before they do notice.

even if that did happen you'd still get cheap insurance until they canceled it any way

lol ennit, well I'm gunna fix the clutch and flog it so I'm not to bothered about the insurance aslong as its insured. if the car dosnt have to many problems its looking like ill have a decent motor to play in for a month or so and then make a couple of hundred on it

went out this morning to see what I've actually brought and all is well so far, clutch is slipping but its more than driveable. body work has a few shoddy bits but nothing noticeable unless you are looking. interior is mint with no marks anywhere. really pleased with this and glad i took the punt on it.

its a 92 so its the year where they changed it to that shape. basically the same car tho minus the 4 wheel steer.

clutch is looking like its going to cost me around 150 and a looong weekend to change it. with any luck i dont find anymore big problems and make a bit of money on it.
