Hi all,

Just got some 16's as they were going for cheap and all my old tyres were buggered so thought 'hey why not?', i now know why not :(

16's + Polo = PoHI

So i had to raise my car by about 30mm!! I haven't got any money to get another set of wheels at the moment so i think arch rolling is my only way to go until I've saved some more pennies!

Does anyone know if this can be done diy? What tools are best to use? Procedure?

Any help gratefully received to try and get it at least a little lower again! :)

Yeah just a bit big really! They do look good but definately missin the drop! I'm sure with a bit of bodgery ill get it a bit lower again! Offset and width fit perfectly as well! bout 5mm from tyre wall to collies and tyres *just* inside arch!!

if your folding the lip up on the inside of the arch i had to do mine due to scrubbing

what i did was ,gently hammered the lip to bend it slighty

then...

use a g clamp and tighten it very slowly ,but i advise to use block of wood behind the clamp so it does'nt dent,scratch etc

when i done mine i just used cardboard and it left dents

i heard heat gun helps to not flake the paint (which i did not use)

but in my opinoin theres no way of gettin away with not losing abit of paint beneath the arches :/

thanks ok mate mind you i dint doint on a 6n i done it on my bradvan but guessing is no different

but please use the wood to prevent dents

I've now got some filler to sort it :/

They certainly fill the arches:

9 times out of 10, a cheap DIY job will end up looking shocking and you'd wish you hadnt started!

i kinda agree as I'm resulting to filler and spraying it up due to the dents i left

the first time I did mine I gor my wheel brace and rolled it between my tyre and arch, worked okay but wasn't enough for the 8J et3 wheels, so I had it done properly

you cab hire arch roller of the bay for about £50, you'll get a better job than with a block of wood and a hammer

or even better, pay a pro 50 quid to come do it for you!

thanks for all the advice guys. On closer inspection my arches are pretty much rusted to fuck so didnt bother. Removed the arch liner on the rears and chopped part of the rear bumper down where it was rubbin the worst (didnt actually look like it was rubbin the arches too bad anyway) so hopefully it will do for now till i can save some pennies for smaller wheels and get the drop back on! :)
