I got a set of coilovers for my valver running on standard 14, the coils drop to 120 so what's the lowest I can go before rubbing happens? And hitting speedbumps?

And if you can put any pics up of how low yours are :)

get the coilovers down wind them all the way down on the front and rear drive it find problem fix them... but never higher it

You'll get down 100mm on the front before the ARB stops you going any lower and at the back you could probably drop it the whole 120mm but it would look odd.

A quick search in the technical section should have told you this.

But the best way to find anything out...do it for yourself.

NOTE: You will never drop a valver 120mm at the front, because as standard the lowest point of the car is 120mm from the deck...so obviously a drop of 120mm would see you with proper issues.

As for rubbing, all depends on wheels and tyres :)

i know its not on a polo but my mk2 golf has been dropped 190mm

I measured it before i slammed it 235mm ride from body work to the floor. Now it is 45mm

(combination of coilies and sticking to 13" wheels on a 55 profile)

I can't even fit a 330ml can under the the sill.

But i can only just fit a can on its side under the front splitter!

all the way down on coilies and dont look back haha

What if you shorted the front pipe or got smaller boxes in the system.

I ended up removin my mid box and went for a thinner back box

i'm suprized you needed too, the exhausts on them sit nicely as standard. Mine ran the oem pipe with no issues, it was the sub frame and sills that took the brunt of the punishment

the polo tho, that was a right pain in the arse. I had to de-cat it, remove the center box and reshape all the bends to keep it tighter to the body and chop the back box off and weld it back on at a different angle. And It still wore a hole in the down pipe after about 15 mins of driving

My Coilovers say 120mm drop and they are wound right down on front and back.

Be warned driveshafts dont like it much and neither does the Lower arms lol - seems to take out a lot of things on the road, including Cat's eyes :-)

it had the wrong exhaust fitted by the previous owner There are a about 3 setup options for the 1.3, typical lol

stopped me getting stuck on the multi level car park in bury, unlike the week previous to the exhaust re-work, i got stuck epic fail. replaced the paint work with waxoil :(

the little speed humps a billing aquadrome got me a few times, front wheels would go over fine then BANG! as it dropped on to the sills. Was funny as fuck watching normal peoples reactions as the either jumqed for cover or just staired no in disbeilfe

1.3 mk2 golfs have got to be one of the best vw's to slam, the engine and box are sheilded by the subframe, so even if you beach it, just slam it in revese and try it again but faster

I find it amazing how almost every VAG show I go to there's speedbumps to get into the place lol everyone knows that VW's are always low as Fook! Lol.

In answer to the OP - standard valver, all the way down will be fine :)

My 6n is down 100mm and this gives me probs especially over speedbumps, but i am running 13" wheels so i know i can go lower but i hate to say this "i dont think i should"

Yeah 100mm should be fine on standard 13"s.

I got 120mm on the front 0 on the back, fucking shits and giggles (didn't get round to the back yet), No scrubbing on 165/55/R13 on the front.

No scrubbing unless i chuck it round a corner which is at an angle. Even then it only hits the arch which isn't rolled.

All in all, you won't scrub all the way down to 120, but you will get shit loads of other issues. If you wanna keep it ok, 80-90mm should be fine and look good. 100 at a push.

You can't just say all the way down will be fine, my konigsports were 15mm off the bottom, my chassis was sat on the driveshaft and arb and there was no way (chassis notch aside) that i could have wound them all the way down. Maybe on cheap jamex/philj kits though, their claimed 120mm drop is a)120mm lower than an 8v polo not a 16v and b) with the helpers out.

Are the helpers the spring below the top one on Coilovers cos my friend said take that out and it drops lower?
