3m Carbon fibre Vinyl Di-Noc

Featured Replies

Been thinking about where to go with my car next (storm grey 6n) now I'm thinking of doing some carbon fibre bits as I can't get the fabric I wanted to do another scheme so the whole scheme is out the window! And ways now I'm thinking grey car with polished bits (already done) with a few bits of black trim (mirror bases badges and grill etc then I'm thinking of doing just a few accent bits In carbon I.e

interior door pull (just the bit that pops out to reveal screw for door card)

maybe a few thing in the dash (not too sure yet)

the little black triangle trim that covers the door mirror screws possibly with tweeter pods

the rear veiw mirror

Posibly a vinyl roof in satin black or cf vinyl

also wanna paint my bbs splits black then wraped in carbon style vinyl (a la dubplay.co.uk)

Also looking at doing a few engine bay bits! Such as

expansion tank screw cover

battery cover

possibly engine cover!

So how good are these diy kits?

Which are best quality

which are easy to work with but achieve decent finish?

If you're confident and pretty handy with a craft knife you can do it from a roll, I did my DIN blank plate and cup-holders

And my gamecube, just for shits and giggles

How pliable is it to the contours?

Cheers!

Not very, i had a go and once it creases its stuffed, ask a vinyl specialist as they may be able to help you out.

Its wiked stuff mate, really easy to mould as long as you have patience!

Indy has done his roof in it, monkey did his din plate, i have done my vw badge, so a few of us on here know the stuff so try something and if you get stuck pm one of us..

Dimz

to do curves etc you need to use a heatgun

Cool! Thanks for advice! Might buy a little kit and give it a go! Just organised my "parts department at the yard so I have alot more trim than I thought so it don't matter if I mess it up to much!!

I've had a thought about wrapping the headlight bit that people paint black/tint! To tie the exterior to the interior and engine bay in a very subtle way!

Aswell as a cg style vinyl fabric bonnet bra with abit of classy oem embroidery!!

Jesus it's gonna be a long winter haha!

Sounds good.i especially like the idea of doing the headlights but was wondering if the heat from the bulbs would warp it or damage it seeing as you use a heatgun to make it more pliable?

Use the proper wrap stuff, with the resin, which you can get in a kit for hotter temperatures areas.
