Very quick question, can you get done, pulled for being 'too low' The reason i ask is I'm thinking of winding down my coillies the last 2/3cm so there wound down completly, but just worried i could face fines and points (i already have 3) the cars been lowered around 100mm but to me still doesnt look that low yet every bodys says it is lol!

the police took my car for being 'too low'

you can be done if your tyres are rubbing, which is 3 points a tyre.

I've got stretched tyres (165/50/15) so they shouldnt rub ( dont when i have 2 in the back) how low was you?

you prob got more chance of getting in a bit of bother for the strecthed Tyres than being low to be honest .. unless your Frame is bashing the floor you'll be ite i reckon :p

i'v no idea how low i was tbh, they just said it was unsafe.

well i might have to risk it lol just need to find a C spanner! My frame doesnt bash on the road but on some spped bumps the wishbones do grind :)

You can fail and MOT if the car is to low.

My old 6n was wound all the way down on the back and nearly all the way down with the helpers out on the front. In 8 months driving it like that I never got pulled once, even with police cars following me and the car bouncing off the floor.

Depends on the police officer I spose.

From what I can see your stance is just right theres no point in going lower any lower and you'll be driving over yourself !

yes you could get done for it, there may not be any thing written about it (or there maybe, i'm not sure) but if a copper pulls you and doesn't like the fact it's scrapping the floor he would be well within his rights to class it as dangerous. if you tried to appeal and went to court, what judge in his right mind is going to side with you when a copper is stood there showing evidence that your car is so low it hits the floor?

of course you might get a sound copper and he might not care or you may not even get pulled, but it's a risk you take mate.

although if it was me and i had 3 points already (assuming your in your first two years?) i'd be steering clear of any thing that could get me any more points at least till i had got the first two years out the way.

that red mk2 is weak as hell, my old golf was that low on coilovers

if your gonna have air/hydraulics it needs to lay frame or it's just pointless tbh, what's the point in having it if your can run that low on coilovers?

I'm starting to think air is a good idea. Pain in the arse jacking cars up that are stupid low. Would be much easier to be able to press a button and be able to get under it without any major dramas. Just little things like my bumper gets pulled off nearly every morning reversing into my drive. Its getting a bit tiresome now. If it was on air could get it out easily.

3 times now i've driven the 2 miles to the petrol station on the way to work, and upon walking out with my peppered steak slice and a pint of milk i've looked over at my car and realised i've left the front bumper outside my house again

the misses has got used to getting phone calls asking "look out side and see if my bumpers still in the road"

I've had the points since 2007 there coming of next year, I've had my full license for 6 years.

Its classed as causing damage to the road surface (honestly)

I got a telling off by my dad (manager of the place) after my subframe ripped up 4 sections of a black and yellow speedbump (road directly in front of it had sunk badly) in front of him.
