Its a bastard mate, because it feels like it doesnt really wanna come out

Remove the internal cover on the bootlid (plastic jobbie) and then remove a couple of 10 mm nuts/bolts if i remember correctly. Eventually when youve released everything it will come loose

Then when I did mine I pulled it out from the outside of the car as opposed to the inside, as it looked like it would fit better, but it was still a nightmare and knackered the paint surrounding the lock

I'm at work so my explanation is shit but ill try and get you the pics i took later to explain lol :D

IIRC, you have to turn the key in the barrel and then it comes out of the handle, or, you have to turn the barrel I think...something like that!

Right i need to know this buy Friday at the latest

How far iv got so far

-Removed Boot Trim

-Unclipped All The Wire's....

-Removed The 3 Tork screws, Which makes the hand losse

But still cant get it out :x

I either need to remove the whole handle or just the barrel,

Due to i brought a tailgate from a scrappy and need to fit my old handle/barrel

turn the key in the barrel and it should slide out.

I remembered something else last night - there is a metal wire clip that you have to remove - really hard to describe - but it holds the barrel into the handle unit. It's easy to get out but a little fiddly to get back in (still only a 2 min job though).

I would do some pics if I could but am away at the mo and the polo is at home.

What about if i dont have the key ?

well theres only one thing to do! take the clip of the back of the barrel and then use a hammer and some sort of dolly and idiot it out! the whole handle should be easy removed tho!

If you pull the clip out shown in red on pics, then the whole barrel and mechanism will push out into the boot, then with this out the rest of the handle is easier to remove

Does it just pull off then ?

Which ever is easy to get out ie the whole lot with handle or just the barrel as need it for the other boot so it will lock

ohhh i forgot about that bugger!, can be tricky to get off that one mate! but couple of flat screw drives will see you right!

As you can see from the pics, they do get gruddied up and this makes removing the barrel difficult, but from memory, with the torx bolts out if you tap it from inside then on the outside if you pull it from the bottom of the handle moulding with a bit of juggling it does come out as a whole unit

All sorted thanks lads

Good!

I have this problem trying to get the key barrel out, iv removed the pin which holds it in. The key doesn't turn in the lock due to it being corroded. The barrel doesn't move abit iv tried bashing it but no luck. I do really need this out for me to clean it, is there anyway i can remove the whole handle with the barrel still attached i have had a little play with it but had no luck its now starting to pee me off.

Anyone have any suggestions??

Shaun

Put the key in and push it then it just pops out i did it yesterday :D

Just popped out to try that but no luck. Iv tried soaking inside the lock with penetrating oil and WD40 over night but nothing really need this fixing as my central locking pump dont work so got no way of unlocking the boot.
