Description: The time has come to sell my mk1, it’s a shame to do this as this is the most fun car I’ve owned, brings a smile to your face everytime you drive it! It’s very quick for an 8v, the acceleration is spot on, pulls very hard and surprises a lot of people!

Only reason for sale is that I’m after something newer until I can afford to have a daily and another MK1!

I’ve owned the car since around October last year and have spent a lot sorting out a few things since the car was off the road for a few years.

It has been used regularly except when I took her off the road for the new disc's and pads, then the bleed nipple snapped off in the caliper so replaced that with another unit from Crazy Quiffs.

Unfortunately the car is starting to need a bit of attention to the paintwork and this is the main let down to the car, the shell it’s self is solid.

The worst blistering on the car is around the windscreen, not sure on the extent of this but the screen was replaced with new seals a few years back so I suspect it isn’t too bad.

The arches have been rolled in the past and it appears the paint cracked so this could do with a blow-over.

The spare wheel well’s a bit rusty on the bottom but can be repaired and isn’t an MOT failure.

The car has 12 months MOT, to pass it needed some welding on the sills and underneath around the rear axle and on the frontal floor areas. Everything repaired has also been undersealed. Wheel cylinders were replaced along with the rear brake pads & hoses also.

Performance

Rolling road-ed at 119bhp & set up at TSR, Bridgwater in ’08 (printout to prove).

This car shifts, lots of people have commented how quick this is for an 8v.

Engine

1781cc 8v – rebuilt with receipts to prove

All injections parts replaced inc. braided hoses.

New Bosch battery (4 year warranty)

Transmission

Gearbox rebuilt in ’96 with new syncro & bearings (still spot on)

Clutch is pretty stiff but doesn’t slip, still works so didn’t bother replacing!

Chassis

Boge Turbogas shocks

Eibach springs (lowered approx 40mm)

Eibach anti roll bars front & rear

Brand new 239mm Black Diamond Combi discs

Mk2 16-valve master cylinder and 22mm servo

Goodridge braided hoses

EBC Green Stuff fast road pads

6.5x15” BBS RMs in good standard condition on 195x45 budgets (surprisingly good all with tread)

1.5deg neg camber, parallel toe, only just dialed in

Wheel alignment set in June

Styling

Front bumper replaced a few months back

Car was restored several years ago and is now starting to need attention around the windscreen.

Rear valace is pretty mint as is tailgate, both done in '08.

Chrome grill trim, sourced after months of looking!

Deep GTI chin spoiler

Dubweiser pressed plates (road legal)

Rear wiper’s been removed but still have it to include with sale.

Interior

Standard GTI Black & Grey front seats no bolster wear but a hole in the material only of the drivers right bolster (would be fine if patched up)

Standard rear seats, a bit tatty.

Immaculate headlining

VDO gauges removed and replaced with just the oil temp (done by previous owner)

MFA doesn’t work, haven’t looked at this so may be a simple fix

MPG reader still works

TOAD immobilisor (with certificate)

Stealth shelf with JVC speakers

Stereo wiring only just fitted as previous owner removed it all for some reason!
