Other Water Cooled Dubs

Featured Replies

So I was thinking earlier on, what other water cooled dubs were there before the MK1 golf? This is where my ignorance begins really.

Pics and info would be great

first was the k70, precursor to the passat. wasn't really a vw though. Was mostly an NSU underneath

wikipedia has a vw timeline, at the bottom of the k70 article, click on 'show' on the 2nd of the blue horizontal bars, the one that says "Volkswagen Passenger Cars timeline, European market, 1950–1979" that shows you what cars were released when. :)

^ would happily sell the polo for a Mk1 Passat. Would feel guilty modding it though..

or a VW Fox (not quite before the Mk1 Golf but rare at least!)

I walk past an old fox on the way to uni, always have to stop and admire it. In great condition. Left hooker though

Will try and get some this week

That's a pretty rare sight, considering they were only sold in the Americas! Definately need to see some pics! I've got a real soft spot for them. Quite an unusual car, bit like a mk3 3 door escort estate. Engine is mounted longitudinally like most Audis and most passats so there are theoretically some interesting engine conversion options for them!
