Yes the center bore is slightly smaller on a mini than a vw, they're 56.1 not 57.1, so best bet is to get spigots. I'm not sure which ones you need but a quick search around on eBay will quickly remidy this.

To fit minilites, you will need:

Spigot rings, Bmw mini - VW fitment

Wobble bolts & (extended ones for the fronts)

9.5mm spacers for the front (Thinnest you can get, used to clear front calipers)

As the wheels are -7 ET already you don't really want to go poking them out anymore.

type mini, minilight or minilite into the search box of this forum (i know its hard, its quite far away from the new topic button) and a plethora of threads await regarding fitting mini wheels to your polo.

simple answer is the offsets are all wrong, and youll need some archwork dependant on car, to avoid falling foul of mr plod, not to mention also having to run variance (wobble) bolts, and possibly spigot rings, dependant on centrebores.

personaly, get smoors, they are similar to minilights and are 4x100 with proper VW offsets

bmw mini fitment is 4x100 but has a slightly smaller centre bore

real mini is 4x101.something or other and require wobble bolts and spigot rings as the centre bore is usually larger

smoors are like 130quid a corner though? theres no comparison. id rather spend 200quid for a brand new set of minilights from midland wheels and 15quid for wobbles and spigots jobs a good'un! then you would have a good few quid left to get arches rolled nicely to cover that et.

you'll need to do more than roll them, they will poke out by nearly 2".

the other option is to run minilight style wheels designed for the old mx5. they are 4x100, have vw friendly offsets and you can get them for £60 up to £500 depending on wheel spec. only downside is that they are mostly 14 or 15" which a lot of poeple dont seem to like so much.

yeah but they are baby 6js, whereas most go for 7 or 8js, then wonder why they dont fit.

i had a set of 6js that i got off ebay for £40, tried them, thought they looked a bit small though

good point. id use 6s up front and 7s on back if there that bad et.

bought mine privately. the ones on ebay are most probably copies. if they are genuine englemann mirrors then they are worth a few quid.

how the hell can you use spigot rings to make a wheel with a 56mm centre fit a hub with a 57mm centre??
