Right, have read through a load of threads about helper springs and have gathered some useful information, but i need a little more, plus some confirmations.

I've just got a second hand set of coilovers, which seem to be in pretty good nick. They're TA Technix, so not top of the range but they'll do for now.

They came with no helper springs on both front struts. Now, I don't want to go too low - I need the car to be practical enough when it comes to speed bumps etc. I know that people take the helpers out in order to go lower, but with the front ones missing will I still be able to have a sensible ride height? Also, will I still be able to adjust the rears (with helpers in) so that the car sits right?

Couple of other things, what's the best way to service coilovers and will the lack of helper springs defo be an MOT fail or can I just wind up the coilovers so the springs don't move when the car's jacked up?

Thanks mate.i did a search and it does look like they come with front helpers but if some don't it might be ok.i guess best way to find out is to put them on!

are they red springs with blue springs seats?

Seen a set on a 6n2 that only had one spring on front.

simpy put them on, and adjust them. You will just have to go higher up the coilover.

the ride is exactly the same with or without them, helper springs do absolutely nothing in terms of effecting the ride. they are fully compressed all the time that there is weight on them, the only purpose they serve is that when you jack the car up they decompress and hold the main spring in place.

as matt says they will be fine without them you will just have to have the adjuster ring further up the coilover body so it holds itself in place.

i thought they went silly bouncy when removing helpers?
