Steel Banding

Featured Replies

I've tried using the search and although people have asked before, there was never really an answer.

I've got my eyes on a set of 13" 5J steelies and wanna get them banded to 7J on the front and 8J on the back amd was wondering how much this is gonna cost me, i've looked on banded steels and they're soo expensive and i've heard their service isn't too great either?

anyone recommend somewhere else that does it for an affordable price?

or even better, does anyone on here do it? :-D

Type banded steels into google.

A mate of mine made his own, by cutting the front part of the wheel off to the face and welding the back lip of another wheel to it. Hardest part was getting them to hold air. The boys at treadfirst were a tad sceptical..

I'm sure you could get them done by an engineering firm as cheap as using a "professional" such as bandedsteels.whatever. Stick your head in the door of the most likely looking engineering firm (more oddball the better).

On ebay search for stock car wheels. you can get them done for 30 a corner, but they mainly do up to 13s. they also specify that they're exclusively for off road/track use.

Any decent engineering place would do this for you, usually about £30-£50 per wheel.

"type banded steels into google" is the most retarded reply I`ve ever seen. Why don`t you just reply with that quote everytime anybody ever asks any question under the sun

To the OP, pm me if you want details of a guy in the London area who charges no more than £50 a wheel regardless of the band. You will have to remove the tyres yourself and arrange a courier

I`m off to type "winning lottery numbers for next wkend" into google

Hahaa that's exactly what I thought, and I think you'll find if you do it it comes up with "I want some banded steels" on all different car forums, doesn't really help.

Okay buddy I may send you a pm once I've had a chat with a few different companies :)

Good luck on the lottery, if they do happen to pop up on google let me know lol

My dad had a set of 8 + 9" wide banded steels done by him for his T4 Pick up but he did them wrong and it was impossible to get the tyres on because of the way he welded them. They had to be cut up and thrown away in the end and lost my dad £250. The quality of them was really good but I can't take that risk of losing £250.

i thought that all got sorted in the end?

fair enough though, i wouldn't wanna risk it either.

Paul refunded some of the money for the banding, but my dad had paid to have 2 sets of wheels shot blasted, had to buy a 2nd set of wheels for the backs to be welded onto the other steels and ruined a few tyres trying to get them on so cost a fair bit.

I will consider paul doing a set for me when the time comes, but only if he will fit the tyres for me, and if he can't do it I'm not paying him lol.

Ever thought of weller steels?? available in 7' 8' and 10' widths and varying PCD's and offsets about £60 - £70 well worth it as there designed for motorsport! Have a set at home 2x 10'x13' and 2x 7'x13' but there ford fitment so wont sit on the polo =[ might go on the euroKA instead...

this might be worth a look::
