Stuck on what car to get next!?!

Featured Replies

How can you say a 6n is a chore in this weather? Fair enough you want a new car but the 6n is hardly a donkey and cart!

But, the A3 is the way forward.

Hahaha....you're right i suppose. But I have been driving my mums 9N for the past few months and then coming back to the 6n makes it seem like a chore in comparison.

work harder, buy my TT lol

You'll get loads of uni fanny then too ;)

Ill swap you my 6n and my left testicle! Only used on the weekends, great condition, low mileage!

How much harder would I need work to afford your TT?

the car or the testicle?

4k's your budget? 6.5k's my asking price

pop 2k on your budget and i might be tempted

What is your hourly rate? :unibrow:

All seriousness there is no way I can afford/run/insure a TT at 20 :( would love it tho!

And kerrly- it depends what the job is :unibrow:

Hows about a 2000reg+ 3/5 series?... 540 :dribble:

lol, 2 years and get one then :), only paying 610 a year insurance!

Tax is lower bracket, 250ish i think.

Fuel - well thats a sore subject..making the turbo spool up to hear it dump gets expensive!

Do you charge by the seconds or the inch?

serious suggestion though

polo GTi

great daily. cheap, look great, comfortable and most of all can have abit of fun in them!

A3's are really abit boring!

Matt- Yeah was think of the 02/03 3 series coupes...they look sexy but way to common down my area!

Nell-Defo a car for after graduation :p Maybe a pressie from mother and father for passing my degree :D...well i can wish!

Between the GTI and cupra now! Only things might be insurance...as the cupra is 3 groups higher! So gta see what brentacre say abt it!

How is the GTI on the motorway? Fuel consumption, comfort etc etc?

Kerrly-Whichever you pay more for :p

lol for sure mate

I had my GTi for two years, covered 27k init. 20k of that was mostly motorway to work and back and to bristol. Easy notched up 40mpg+ on motorway..would see 400 miles to a tank on a long run.

Its quiet (if you dont mess with it). mine was abit louder because of the BMC and the intake modded slightly.

Comfort, well its a more refined car than the mk4 in my opinion. I had adjustable damping coilovers which were ideal when you just want to plod to work and back at 7 in morning..then mess about on some back roads on the way home! Plus get one with heated seats and your onto a winner ;). Enough toys to play with and make it look smart. Dash's look great at night and the digi climate control looks tidy.

The only reason i got the TT..was to further improve comfort! - but its boring..too boring, the polo's very involved i think, light steering makes for sharp handling. TT's abit numb, it'll kick its back end out but it just feels everyday like its telling you to "stop driving like a c**t"

i think you'd feel this in the a3..dont get me wrong there nice cars. But i know at 20 i wanted a little more fun.

Cheers for that mate!

Plus if I get a polo gti...i can still use clubpolo :D

Hahaha thanks for info bro!

Pretty much said everything I wanted to know!

get a mk2 ibiza then shove a vr6 in to it now thats a rocket belive me I've been in one

A VR6 can sit comfortable on the motorway.

you would just be building yourself a mk3 golf vr6 but for more price and hassle, although it would be better looking

I was about to say and faster as its lighter, but according to parkers, a 2.0 8V mk3 GTi only weighs 10kg more than a 6n 16v, and 10kg less than an Ibiza GTi 2.0 8v.

Have they got their facts wrong? My 2.0 8v ibiza is a fair bit quicker than a golf GTi with the same engine, and everyone seems to think that mk3 golfs are really heavy??

All good ideas! Thanks

I just got a Mk2 leon FR 170 in place of my 16v, I reckon the 140 A3 will bore the pants off you, better brakes, warm up quicker, safer and generally comfier car... but although it's miles faster, the FR is nowhere near as fun as the valver! So I'd imagine the 140 version of essentially the same car will be boring as hell, the 170 isn't much better on fuel than the 16v either, not sure on the 140.

On another note though, I couldn't go back to the polo, got in it the other day to go for a blast, I honestly have no idea how I drove that like I used to, the brakes are apalling, the handling skitty on bumpy roads, understeer is horrendous - all round death trap compared to a new 'warm hatch'

See, I have kinda the opposite, I have a 2.0 tdi mk6 golf and my polo for the fun weekend drives :)

I drive my golf all week and get bored of it, drive the polo on the weekend and it comes to monday and I want to take it to work with me, I love it that much! it's everything that the golf isn't, including insane... which is probably why I love it so much.

I'd love to drive my polo every day, but it'd definitely kill me or cost me my license, so i'm stuck with the boring golf that's boring :(

^ ^ aw poor you for having to drive a mk6 golf lol, only joking

Bit out of the box but what about a Bora 150 TDI, very comfortable and with little money spent will see 200bhp easily! Not to everyones taste though.

a3 all day everyday! comfy, fast and can be faster wth a remap and get good mpg

A3's are posers cars, clit cars. Get a GTI!
