Removing a wing on a mk2f

Featured Replies

Hey

I've been spraying up a new wing for my mk2f but i'm not entirely sure how to remove the old one to fit the new one.

I know there is a series of bolts under the bonnet and i can only imagine i'll need to remove the inner arch.

Is there any more bolts to remove etc

any pointers would be great.

Cheers, George

There's bolts all along the back face of the arch, the bit that fixes to the body near the door. There may be some plasticy waxy stuff covering the bolts which means you can't get the socket on but you can either cut it or blow torch it off, won't do it any harm

As above, approx 6 bolts under the bonnet, one screw where the wing meets the strip under the grill, one bolt at the bottom of the wing just infront of the door, and the three bolts under all the gunk on the front of the a-pillar/inside back edge of the wing

oh, haven't heard that one before lol.

It looks better than a dent.

Spraying panels black eliminates dents?

I'm off to halfrauds tomorrow to buy a job lot, anyone else want some?

yeah thats well funny bruv mate cos he didn't fill it forst or owt yeah?!11!!2?!?!

he obviously cant afford to get a great finish at the moment so he's done what many have done and sprayed it matt/satin black i think it looks good as it is if it was up to me and the car was a less desirable colour i would spray the whole car black

it looks like a new wing tbh mate  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Well said, yes it is a new wing, I don't have the money to get it sprayed professionally and it would outway the cost of the car anyway.

A satin black wing is better than a mullered wing with patches of rust.

If anyone wants to spray it the same colour as the car for free go ahead lol

I made a bit of a joke, I knew it was a new wing and there was already a joke about the change in colour so didn't think you'd take it to heart, to be far if I was just on here to give people shit i wouldn't have helped him n how to take it off in the first place, don't take it to heart bud

nah, i'm not taking it to heart, i knew there would be some comment like that, tbh i'm more pissed off having to change the colour in the first place but not a fan of the dented look.

you doing the door black too? if you are it may be worth doing the whole car lol

thought about that myself, if theres accidental overspray then i'll just carry on lol.

dunno really, its still quite a lot of money in cans though, we'll see, i'll get the door done when i get the time and see how it looks.
