Engine was replaced, but couldn't get it to run properly. Has been looked at by about 8 different mechanics, had a brand new carb fitted and has been compression tested (results ok), but nobody can figure out why it won't run right. Can no longer afford the time or money to get it sorted.

so would you not sell the whole car I'm sure it would sell be a shame to break a nice looking loon when it only needs a conversion doing

Sadly it's going to be worth more in parts than it is as a whole car with a knackered engine. This was being used as my daily so I need to fund a replacement!

This is the only one I have at the moment, from the ad I bought it from. The seats are pretty faded in places from the sun, but there are no rips and no sag in the bolsters. Would benefit from a good clean as well. I planned to find somebody who could restore the colour back to them.

can i get a price for the grille, headlights and the strip along the front of the bonnet please?

can i have the two radiator fixings that attach to the slam panel and the screws (or bolts) for them. Also both the sliding heater control knobs? Should just pull out.

both only small but are a pest!

What is the problem with it?

Whats the width of the wheels 6j/7j or 8j? And what are the offsets? What actually is the damage to the front wheel. Does it have any flat spots?

What is the problem with it?

Engine runs at idle but hesitates badly under acceleration. Brand new carb has been fitted, checked and double checked. Compression tested as well (no issues). Wiring has been checked. Fuel delivery has been checked. Nobody can find the problem. There is also a drain on the battery. There are other mechanical issues to sort as well which make it uneconomical to fix. Believe me, I'm gutted to be breaking it like this, but as said before I just can't justify spending any more time or money on it.

Wheels are 7J. Can't remember if the offset is ET20 or ET38 so will check when I get the car back. The damaged wheel is the one in the first pic. You can see a dent in the rim right by the valve. I'm pretty sure it'll tap out and I might even have a go at it myself. I know that it doesn't leak any air, and that's even considering that I run them at 42 psi.

Also have a brand new Weber 34 ICT for a 1.3 engine, PhilJ 80/60 spring/shock it (only about a year and a half old), practically new radiator plus all other engine bits.

how old is the tank? hope the mechanics checked the condition, as mk2 tanks have been known to get blockages in their breathers, causing similar probs to what you describe. i.e. fine at idle, then lean when the engine is under load.

How much for the steering wheel stalks? ( ind n washers ) and have you got the pov spec wing mirrors that are on a ball joint n you have to move by hand? Oh and need the number plate lights :p

real shame this is breaking. Rare car with even rarer interior. Would be soooo easy to drop another engine in there

Note to fisher: i reckon you should give this man a good price as he will not just do a nice job on the car but more importantly save that beautiful loon! we need to keep these babies on the road it is our duty as members of this forum
