6N2 1.4 16v upgrades

Featured Replies

Hi, dont abit of research and found that the main differences between the 75 bhp and the 100 bhp engine are the inlet manifold + throttle body and the exhaust manifold.

I'm not trying to turn my engine into the 100 bhp model, i just want abit more poke so i thourght that these would be a good place to start. I'm going for a stainless four branch anyway but as far as the inlet goes you dont see many of the 100 bhp engines or parts so I'm wondering if they are the same as the GTI? or the AFH?

Also do the 100 bhp engines have a egr valve, mine does but iirc the GTI doesnt?

Cheers Alex

yes, the 100bhp versions do have an egr valve, various different mounting positions depending on engine code, on the afh it's on the side of the exhaust manifold on port 4.. the gti model doesn't have an egr valve..

the gti has a single piece cast alloy intake manifold, the afh has a multi-part alloy intake manifold which bolts together in sections

Hello there. I have a vw polo 6n2 1.4 16v, engine code AHW. This is the 75bhp model. I have just changed the plastic inlet manifold for a gti cast manifold this weekend. I cant believe the difference. It seems to rev alot quicker and freely. I couldnt fit the gti throttle body due to it being fly by wire. So i had to make a bracket for the throttle cable to go on to. Also i had to blank the egr valve off due to it fitting to the original inlet manifold. The modifications on my car are, green induction kit, full stainless system consisting of, powerflow middle box, sports cat and stainless back box, aswell as this gti inlet manifold. The car is much quicker than it was when i first got it. I hope this kinda helps... I just want a stainless 4 branch now :)

Sorry for rambling on, I'm new to this today :)

Would I benefit much from fitting a gti inlet and tv to my 1.4 16v

Also my current tb is fly by wire so would the gti one be plug and play ??

Would I need to alter anything else to suit
