Basically, will coilies off a mk3 golf fit a mk2 jetta?

it seems some companies say they will, whereas others prefer not to tell you at all. I'm led to belive the suspension is the same for mk2 mk3 golfs jettas/ ventos and b3 passats? or is it a case of some coilovers will fit them all and other s wont? :?
