hi all,

looking to get this alarm has anyone ever used one of these? if so are they easy to fit?

I'm just abit wary about the price, but worse case i send it back i spouse,

any advice would be helpful

If your going to get an alarm you may aswel get a proper one fitted from a certified company.

By that I mean you get a Thatcham approved one, which gives you money off your insurance too!

its not so much the security i was looking for, more the central locking and remote start lol :p

you'll be lucky if the remote start works as some polos have a stupid immobilising system

i'd be even more surprised if the alarm worked properly atall

a lot of these cheap ebay alarms aren't even legal for use in the uk as they are not CE marked or DTi approved

but you pay your money and take a chance

take it from me (22 years as an alarm fitter) they are rubbish

what would you recommend that has central locking and maybe remote start?

if anyone wants a remote start i always recommend a clifford as it 100% fool proof

as an example a clifford arrow 5.1 with remote start comes in at around £400 fitted

I've got one of these alarms, was gonna fit it to my old car but kept it for my polo, if anyones fitted one of these would like to hear if it was easy or not :-)

tbf the hawk alarm is a cheap alarm and will deter 95 percent of thieves but £400 fitted for a clifford is way more than i can afford, n whats the point on a £280 polo? lol

Does your car have an immobiliser? If so, the self start will be quite tricky to make work and you'll loose most of the protection of the immobiliser unless the install is cleverly done.

FWIW, even for a car with low value I think an alarm is well worth it, as already said, its the value to you and inconvenience if it happens. Might as well deter thieves at let them nick someone else's motor to ride round in and burn. Also insurance to consider, if your car is taken and involved in an accident, your insurance pays the other parties claim.
