Right i bought this 1.3 mpi 1991 Polo coupe for £265 with 6 months MOT and no tax 6 months ago from ebay from a elderly lady who had owned it for 15 years in Wales (amazed at condition of the bodywork :p ) but when she decided to sell it on ebay when she moved to Sheffield. It had a few problems including; boot lock did not lock, virtually no paint on the roof (still doesn't now), slight overheating issues, etc...

The first thing i sorted out was the overheating issue with a new radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing. I then proceeded to paint the badges black, de-bumpstripped it, xenon bulbs, de-wiper the rear and new numberplates.

I then attempted to sort out another major issue, the 4.5j cl steels, with a set of Seat Corodoba steels that were 14" by 6j.

As you can see the fronts sat pretty flush :)

These then had to be removed due to insurance issues so reverted back to the cl steels :(

By this time i had had enough of the standard stereo with carboard speakers so i swapped them for a Ripseed heaunit, ripseed 2.5" speakers up front and a pair of Alpine 6x9's for around £165.

A quick comparison :p

I then began the de-orangeing of the lights with a pair of clear front indiactors and late spec lights from DKnight and also fitted some smoked side repeaters i bought off ebay. I also began spraying various plastic bits and bobs incuding badges Baby Blue.

The standard cl (straw filled as i found out) seats were next to go in favour of a full gt interior including seats, doorcards and rear bench which i bought for £20

Then i decided to get a bit of inspiration from going to the Polo Show a few months ago where a few of you will renember it looking like this. I also bought a set of GT clocks for £20 from big burt on one of the stalls.

I then finally manged to sort out a set of 14" by 6.5J BBS for £100 which i promptly fitted

This brings it up to date and is due to under go a full respray i the same colour, BBS refurbed baby blue or black, a slightly upswept stlye exhaust, locking wheel nuts and LOWERING!!! which i am undecided on any suggestions?

I would have kept it on the passat steelies and lowered it 60/40

Or get some smaller tyres on the BBS and lower it the same amount.

Car looked well tidy, really needs lowering though! An 80/60 kit will look just right I reckon!

I'm on all time now I'm a club member (not been updated tho yet :( lol ye i liked that green 6n :) and it did look like we stayed in the car but that was or home hahah as we brought no chairs tents or anythin jus the car and a sleeping bag lol

hahaha i'll answer this.......yes except he took the toyo proxies 195/45/14 off and put a set of bridgestones and pirelli, or something similar, on that are 185/60/14 and he had them on his gt before his lupo which was the same colour (met grey) and joe bought his gt interior aswell :p

I think they suited his GT better. good job he replaced the tyres after he gashed them on that tree haha..... ditch fail!

Id say it looks alright on those standard steelies til you sort out the tyres on the RZ's, needs to go a tad lower on the front IMO

hahahaha i went in it with him yesterday and the exhaust does scrape on bumps due to its stupid design (vw obviously never thought people would lower their cars considerably, how stupid of them) so he may have to change it, and he likes jetex ones but they are expensive new, but he likes those custom single pipe upswept style exhausts you often see on mk1 golfs and the like but its even more expensive getting one custom made and he still needs to sort out the wheel situation :S

and he may get 80mm springs in the future to replace his 70mm on the front, but he's happy with it at the moment

yeah he is, he's at work alot of the time and doesn't come on here too often but i do and i'm a close mate of his and i can say he is selling the seat steels that are 14 and 6j but three have no tyres on and one has but he will most likely want this tyre and they have been sat around for a while outside his house so they need a bit of a refurb really. He said that he could sell them to you and would you include that exhaust manifold cover that is used to take hot air into the air intake that you had for sale but didn't end up selling to him for some reason as part of the deal? as he wanted it for the winter as his was missing this part when he bought it
