Alot of people on here spend 100's or even 1000's modding their car but do you really have to spend that much to make your polo look the bizz?

Show us your budget builds :) for a guideline i would say no more than £500 spent not including the car!

£500?!?! well that puts me out straight away, cams and head P+P cost more than that :(

i started this cause I'm a student so doing stuff to my car is limited so i just wanna see how other people have spent their precious pennies :)

Running total is around £500.

£100 for the rims. £100 for the suspention. Etc.. (The tyres put me over budget if i honest, but never mind)

Most of the stuf I've done myself. Like cleaning under the bonnet, removing things to make it look smooth etc. False floor makes it look sweet and only cost me around £50 in wood and carpet

Sprayed it myself too. used to be white. That was cheap. And a cheap runner to being a 1litre. All round Budget fun! :)

My student loan paid for my GTi...

We cant all get student loans at 17

Really like this, the matt black and red wheels really suit it!

My 1st car was a standard 1.4 8v done all that for under £500, My blue 1 know has had 1000's spent + I'm only 18

I reckon I've done pretty well th most expensive thing on my car is my coilovers or headunit/ice (which will come with me so can't really count it!) Just a quick list coilies (fk highsports) bout £190, complete valver interior bout £90, wheels £50 with a £60 refurb manifold £80 fogs £40 then afair few bits at pocket money prices or things to occupy my bordom! Done a pretty much everything my self and as it's my hobby it's money well spent IMHO!

mine hasnt been badly priced...

i brought a complete valver for £100 and stripped it and also made money of it .had most things of other cars that i have got for cheap and broken !! jus have to look out for the right cars...

and ovisly doing you are own work keeps costs down. like refurbing you are own wheels etc...!

i know its not the best looking polo but not bad for a £300 car with mods around £500 !

Yes

i dont think you have to spend aload of money, the reason I've spent barley anything so far is because I've done all the work my self and shoped around for pieces, you can very easly do a car for 500 and make it nice, no matter what car it is you just have to be dedecated to working on it.

i disagree. To me thats kinda the point of Polos. From new in the showroom to us lot messing with the old ones. They are cheap cars!

If you want flash VAG metal, then buy a porsche? No?

same i thought a polo was just a cheap car. i know different people see things in different ways but i dont think i could ever spend thousands on a cheap car

Depends what you see as 'nice' doesnt it really.

You can make a semi decent car out of £500 agreed... But for most, like me, that just simply isnt enough.

I've spent way over half a grand on mine and its nowhere near how i want it.

But.. heres a pic of mine at probably under £500 spent on it..

even with all the expertise and doing everything yourself, theres still the price of parts.

i think 500 quid is very limited. but depends what you want out of the car, if you just want it lowered on some nice wheels then its more than possible

Its when you start wanting wheels that cost more than £500 alone that the trouble begins

All of mine is basically a budget build. I haven't got £1000's to spend on it so I've saving money by doing it all myself. At at the moment I have basically got it to this stage:

There are some bits that I can't do myself as I don't have the skill. But those are the things that I am learning now so if I was to do it next time I should beable to do it myself :)
