If i take out a 1.0 8v from a polo 6n..

..will a 1.4 8v from a polo 6n fit straight in its place with same wiring and gearbox etc.. just straight swop?

why a 1.4 8v? you can put a 1.6 or a 16v in for a similar amount of work.

I am surprised that nobody on here could answer.

I will go for a guess with what you said and take it as a no haha, i hear you need the 16v gear box and ecu etc big/effort of a job,

any polo 6n engine will bolt in fairly easily. but you will have to change the ecu and maybe the loom too.

I'm using a 1.6 head and block in my 6n and using ALL the 1.0 stuff inc ecu. It runs well and is far quicker than wen it was 1.0.

No mate, my old 1.0 engine started using loads of oil and smoking so i fitted a 1.6 engine in and used my 1.0 inlet/exhaust manifolds and all the 1.0 management. Its prob not the best thing to do tbh but its working lol

Mmm probably should go for a 16v then, rather than replacing it with a 1.4 8v

I only did it as i had an engine sitting in my garage and i only want it to last untill after the newyear as I'm putting 20v turbo lump in

Off topic, but i have a spare 1.6 throttle body and inlet going for 20 plus postage if your interested. Just to perk things up
