And finally my old mk3!!

polo3.jpg

You had to have a chassis notch to get 90mm down? What's it like on speedbumps etc.? I've just got my coils (finally!) and just wanting toknow how low I can get before the drive shaft starts knocking etc.

Cheers

  • Author

Hello mate no but I will be having one next week. I very, very rarely have any driveshaft rubbing whatsoever at the moment. I just want to go lower and the notch will allow for that safely.

On my mk3 i was only down 60mm on the front and the driveshafts knocked all the time when I went round bends, on this one though even with going down 90mm i very rarely get problems

Cheers, sorry for being vague, it's a 6n 1.4 lol, now to persuade my dad to let me go 90mm down, hmmmmm

How are you bolting the tow strap on (just a normal bolt?) ? Just feeding it through the tow eyelet on the bumper or through the lower grill?

  • Author

Alright man, I fitted it the other day after quite a lot of pissing about. Ill upload some pics later but I haven't used the original toestrap. I threaded out a new hole just inside the centre grille and put a bolt through it. Its solid but obviously I cant actually use it to tow the car, just for show. Looks ok though.

Had a look at attatching it to the original and it looked a bit of a bastard

RIGHT sooooo

Been doin a few bits this last couple of weeks despite being ill. I also got half way to work one morning last week, stopped at Clacket Lane services on the m25 and the car park was an ice rink. I managed to pull up safely, then some old women didnt realise and smashed into the front of me!! Proper locked up at like 5 mph and just slid into me shagging my front bumper paint! The number plate was cracked, and that was it, or so I thought...

CIMG0711.jpg

That was the front bumper when I took it all apart to investigate the damage, didnt realise shed massively dented my slam panel aswell

CIMG0708.jpg

CIMG0709.jpg

CIMG0712.jpg

Whilst I was fitting a new slam panel and repainting the bumper (matt rattle cans ftw) I decided to tint my headlights

CIMG0704.jpg

One light in oven

CIMG0703.jpg

peeled apart

CIMG0705.jpg

CIMG0707.jpg

CIMG0706.jpg

Masking up the inners and cutting off excess with craft knife.

Then I smoked a bit whilst the paint was drying. Had a few redbulls. Pretty standard

CIMG0710.jpg

Face-Off

Grille was also shagged (clips) so I put it all back together with the original grille when the paint had dried. Luckily no damage past the slam panel which I painted but the bumpers still ever so slightly distorted, heat gun fixed most of it though.

Buying a compressor over christmas and gunna do a proper paint job, still got the interior to finish and engine to tune up a little with a manifold and philj stainless straight through, but shes getting there! :) Opinions welcome!

Not really feeling the Colour Coded splitter if I'm honest

Liking it man  As above thogh, not liking the cc splitter. I've got a grill surround if you want one? Its a metal one aswell.

Also you will have a pm in a minute as I'm looking to do my headlights soon, any difference in the brightness?

  • Author

none at all mate if you just mask up the bits I did. Looks good though man, definatly recommend doing it. Kind of weird putting car parts in the oven though lol

I'm gunna be spraying the splitter black. Cant decide whether to paint it gloss or matt, definatly not my best decision painting it white haha

Steve is it one from Euros or something? I definatly need one now, mines all pissed. I go through London everyday so I could come get it off you at some point or something? x

You could do but I'm a while away from london buddy ;) I got it from mclovin from here, IIRC he had a valver he was breaking. Ill go and dig it out and get a pic for you sanshinnne.

  • Author

ok man

Had a blowout on the m25 last week at 50 which was excellent fun so now own a spanking new rear offside tyre.

Finally starting to get some major changes sorted, compressor and airgun are on their way to me just after christmas, then the interior will be going in for a retrim. Will probably take the car off the road for about a month and just get all the bodywork and interior done, then ill consider building up a 20vt to shove in!! :)

then ill consider building up a 20vt to shove in!! :)

HELL YEAH!!!

:lol::drool::lol:

LAME.

Superchargers get more pussy ;)

  • Author

I know man but I can run a 20vt at 200bhp without straining the engine too much and using less petrol than a beefed up g40. Plus a g40 would cost a shit load more money and the good lumps are getting rare nowadays. Will have to see how it goes.

Seriously though the noise of a charger cant be beaten! lol

  • Author

Snapped my driveshaft yesterday. lolz. New one on its way to be fitted this week.

Also just ordered another 15 cans of paint. Going yet another colour. Should be good though! :)
