hi guys, iv just past my test and and struggling to get affordable insurance.

the cheapest quote is 2.8k on polo 1.0e, personally thats a complete joke i cant pay that, and i wont for a 1.0

the only way i can get it down is by "fronting" what i really dont want to do but its starting to look like i have no choice in the matter.

just wondering on who u guys r with and how much u r paying? or even a more insurance friendly car(that is not a fiat box lol)

I was 17 when I got my insurance, I was paying £1800 for a 1.0L 6n tpft. That's with Adrian Flux. I also have done my pass plus which reduced it to £1700, only took off £100 due to me doing the pass plus late lol. I'm now 18, insurance renews in january, i've checked elephant.co.uk and they seem quite good too. Phone up Adrian Flux though and see what they quote you, add your parents as named drivers too btw.

Well my mates have different cars and seem to be around the same price/maybe tiny bit cheaper, but overall it's good.

And that's baffled me with elephant, however the did quote me cheaper on a 1.4 than my 1.0 >.<

I've been doing all my quotes online so I'm hoping i get get it down by haggling on the phone, if not tho maybe a old school vw with classic insurance

got a online quote with coop but from what i can tell all i do is fully comp and that was 9.4k lol. cheapest so far is 2.3k online quote tho maybe cheaper if i call them and use my charm;)

i went with RAC on my first year of driving and it was 1800 fully comp with my mum and dad as named drivers, but my dad does have some points on his license so that would have bumped it up a little...give it a try :)

I had to sacrifice driving at night to get cheap insurance, £1200 for my 1.4 6n polo... saved loads, ikube.co.uk (but you will have to phone to get a quote)

cant drive between 11pm and 5am, and did pass plus to reduce it even more, cant see it costing anywhere near 2 grand (even without pass-plus)

insurance really doesnt make sense... had a 6n 1L since i passed and been paying around 1200 until i went to fluxs (£845). i am now 20 with just 1yr ncb and an sp30 code... just bought a 1.8 mk3 golf driver and was petrified at some of the quotes i was getting off companies. i shopped around until the car was 100% then phoned adrian flux as i was with them to see what they could do on it, and they quoted only 870 tpft... seems almost like a lottery at the moment with prices

the cheapest quote i have had since passing is £3900 with ikube...

and £4500 with quinn,

i happily take £2300.

I'm £800! 6n2 1.0e. I'm 18 with no no claims (used to front on my mini before it went off the road....)

I'm with Elephant. After 10 months I get 30% off and one years no claims. After the next 10 months I get 20% off and another years no claims then after another 10 months I get 3 years no claims. So 3 years in 2.5yrs and a total of 50% cut in premium making it about £400 to insure. WIN!

But I live in a decent area (Scotland as a whole sems to be ok for insurance tbh...) I would be cheaper on a 1.4 Clio but it aint no Dub

Try admiral, fully comp car worth £2000, set voluntary excess to £1000 add parent and grandparent as named driver.

Thats the cheapest combo for me, £1400 on a 1.4 8v Ibiza which is basically same as a 6n.

19 years old, been driving 7 month have 1 claim costing £4015.

ok cheers for the advise guys, tryed rac but couldnt quote me online so gonna start ringing all the companies recommended on here, hopefully then imay get some cheaper quotes, makes no sense how a 6n2 is cheaper to insure than a 6n tho, want sone but cant find one for the right price
