alrite guys I'm sure youve been asked this a million times but i was wondering what sort of engine would be handiest to use as a conversion into a 1991 polo coupe :)

dont wanna sell it atal for something bigger, thats out of the equation! The polo was my first car and fell in love with driving it! its off road at the minute til something bigger powers it!!

i really want the suprise factor of smoking chavs in their vtr's n corsas etc :p i have the space and help to do a conversion but not sure what engine would fit handy enough?? ill get my hands on a full front end cut, gearbox & shaft & wiring etc...

do 6n engine's fit through with little mod to the subframes? like a 1.4 16v?

or the 1.6 mk1 golf gti engine?

someones bound to have an interest, pictures n all to come :)

cheers, polo lover :D

cant help you on he 6n front mate but if i were you i would go GT mk3 there 75 standard with no mods bay cutting etc. I'm sure with a decent exhaust system and de cat. an indution kit decent plugs injectors etc it would smoke most badman corsas anyday. remember the light weight to the mk3 is its bigest advantage...so make it lighter its all about power to weight

113bhp in a standard mk3 G40 is i recon dont quote 150bhp pt FUDGING QUICK !!!

wouldn't go G40 unless you want one. cos they are rare and pricey.

if you have the means knolege and money to do a proper engine transplant id go all out 1.8T of a cupra 180bhp standard

at any rate the most i have seen from a standard corsa is 125bhp from a 1.8 and i recon the weigh about 900kg ish so you dont need a huge engine

I would go with a modded GT engine and loose some weight mate =]

the fact that you drive a volkswagen shows you have sense so pride your self on that and not the speed you can go =]

VW FTW !!!

yeah the GT's sound like there a great base to build on but there like hens teeth in ireland, very hard to find!! which is why i want to mod my own polo :)

not so much interested in the g40 yet, duno why maybe just the cost of running them is a bit out of my student price range lol :p

i wanna have it sitting bout 110-120bhp which will be quick when the back seats come out here at the wknd. have a powerflow backbox on and when i get a nice engine fitted ill decat it and possibly go for a 4 branch manifold off hopefully a mk1 GTi engine!

she would be the job sir!!!
