Decat pipes again

Featured Replies

Right I know its been done before and I've read all the stuff but still can't find a definitive answer.

So I'm thinking of buying a G that has been decatted with a Vw pipe. Its registered on a K reg 24/8/92.

Its been through MOTS in the past with no problems.

Whats the score?????? When I get it and take it for a test will it have an emissions test??? Is it likely to still pass without a cat on???

Confused with this topic. Seems a bit of grey area.

I think that (and someone can confirm) you will get an emissions test, you do need a CAT on a K-reg and you might get through the test...but there is not gaurentee. You still need one by law regardless of whether you pass the test or not.

it wont pass the emision test if they think its k reg but I'm not sure of the crossover date, but if you can prove the manufacturing date and its before they made all cars have cats then i dont see why not.

Yeah it seems to be about crossover. Where am I likely to find the manufacture date, as I read somewhere that most K reg cars would be before they made the cat compulsory???

cheers for the info guys.

every car has an emissions test, there is a different one for non-cat cars and cat equipped cars. on a K plate you should do a CAT test but you don't have to have a cat to pass it, just low emissions.
