Long story short I have tried to roll my arches on a 6n2 Polo Gti..

Had nothing but issues.

Firstly, on the front, there is a integral clip where the liner fastens to.. When rolled it has caused ripples in the arch... This has happens on both sides.. I tried cutting and grinding back the clip to become flush with the rest of the underside.. It still happened....

Any Ideas?

Now for the rears, it turns out a pikey previous owner has attempted rolling the arches by cutting various slots on the underside of the arch and bending each one in individually, on a quick attempt to roll this caused loads of ripples on the outside of the arch in the same place each inner cut has been made... I'm fairly sure these will need to be repaired at a body shop..

My quesions are:

1. For the fronts, what is your advise to remove the ripples or is it a case of too late, its pooped.

2. If I got some new front wings (which isn't too much of an issue), what would be peoples recommendations if I were to roll them again?

3. For the rears, do you advise rolling them first, then take them to a body shop to fill/repair the exterior ripples? Or get them repaired then rolled?

atleast yours arnt made out of rust lol. if it was mine i know its not very good but i would cut the inner bit off and try and get it as uniform/flat as pos atleast if you go over with the roller it should all look the same.

if you can get hold of scrap wing or car you could try cutting slits in them and then cutting it out, atleast that way your not doing any damage

like i discussed with you buddy go to a body shop get a price to get them knocked back out

When i had mine done i watched the guy and he didn't do anything special, just took it slow, went over the clip again and again and it folded, not sure if 6n2s are ally wings or owt? I'd buy a genuine part to replace them though as a pattern part will only be flimsier, try getting junior hacksaw or tin snips out next time maybe?

Before that though, give it some major heat from the inside and try work it out with the roller, and or use a hammer and dolly.

Well, I did grind the clip back, it was flush with the rest of the under-arch.. Which is why the baffled me..

We ended up doing a few over 6n's with no issues..

Whether my arches have had arch work in the past who know? I know the rears certainly have..

Professional bodyshop time me thinks..
