Wiring Fuel Pump

Featured Replies

Was wondering what wire people wire their pumps to. Obviously it shouldn't be live all the time, so yellow wire under the steering wheel seems the most logical choice. Am i right? Its an mk2 btw

Thanks a lot

I think the yellow wire is the headlight dipped beam wire? Not sure but defo don't splice into it just in case.

Anyway, I would wire it to a black ignition switched wire. On my Mk2 I found one behind the back of the fusebox on the passenger side then routed it into the engine bay with an inline fuse.

You can also splice into the black wires coming off the back of the ignition barrel plug. Choose the thickest wire you can just so you know that it will handle the extra current draw.

Whoops! Cheers for the heads up! So the black wires are the ignition live wires. Thanks for the helpage!
