F*ck me this engine has been budged to f*uck NEVER use to so called engine builders TEMP sport!!!!! Talk about bodged!!!!

Took my car in to have the cam fitted turns out the cam bolts have been done up f*cking tight took all the threads out and is going to cost me an arm and a leg!!! never heard of a Hayes!!! They only needed to be 6nm and 90* turn....

I'm well pissed off now I was under the illusion it had a FULL ENGINE rebuild what a load of shit!!!

Rant over

TEMP(orary) SPORT.

Man that sounds gash. Some bolts on cars you know to just do them up hella tight but definitely not ones that are holding the engine together. 6nm is not much at all and to strip threads they must have done them silly tight.

Bad times man.

So what is the solution? New head to rebuild? Put a wanted on here and club G40 and get a new head sorted.

wonder if you could get away with a helicoil? sucks that does though, cowboys

In fact. Scratch what i just said. Just get a mk3 head. Just put the valves and all the other jazz in that one as they are all the same casting with the only real difference being the sodium filled exhaust valves iirc (double valve springs but swap them accross too).

So if it is just the head that has stripped threads and all the other parts in the head are fine then just buy a mk3 polo head. Strip it,and use all the stuff from your G40 head and torque it all up nice and proper and jobs a good un. Means you get a nice fresh head on the car too so just see it as a positive. Get a metal headgasket on there too whilst you have the fooker off :-)

Chin up pal all will be gravy!!

Yer just pissed how it's ment to of had a rebuild by a racing company BULL!!!

I work in a race engine shop, this thing can happen even to the best shops, only last week i was torquing the main up on a VERY expensive(5k) ally block and pulled a thread, luckinly the customer was there and saw me, i didn't do any thing wrong. Just turned out the thread was fooked and now matter what i did it would have happend.

The only thing is if they fix the mistake for free,

they said he will be charged for an extra half hour work to get it fixed and then altogether 2 hours work for cams and pulley fitting so not too bad

oh and we had to walk 3 mile to a shop to try and find the helicoil kit to repair it after we finially found a shop that sells them (because the garage didnt own any) they told us wich to get so we bought it and then half out walkin back they phoned and said we got the wrong one and they had messured it wrong :x:cry:
