mod insurers

Featured Replies

Jus wondering if anyone could recommend some insurers that deal with mods at non-silly prices? Thing is, half the ones i look at won't touch me because i'm not 21 yet, or won't insure fully comp which isn't enough.

Hi dude. You should stop looking for somethin that isnt there. If you want fully comp Modified insurance at a non silly price, or any price, you will struggle.

Your best bet would be going for third party, with a specialist company. I am 21 and with Brentacre on modified policy. Car is a 1.0 MK3 polo coupe, but it still costs over £700, and thats with 2 years NCB. This is a cheap price for a policy with unlimited body/ chassis mods. I can also nearly double the BHP. Dont know what the age restrictions are tho.

Ok let me amend that, I've budgeted for around 2k, my renewal is this much, but my current insurer won't insure mods till i'm 25. The car is a 6n2 GTI, and the only mod i'll be making (soon anyway) will be coilovers :) I'm just not prepared to risk having undeclared mods so its either find a new insurer or stay standard for another year:( I was planning on giving brentacre a call after work if they're open.

Check out the usual ;) Brentacre, Adrian Flux, Chris Knott... Just give them a ring, I managed to get mine sorted for £560, coilover and induction kit on a 1.4 16v 6n2 and it was just before I turned 21.. you'd be surprised as it was cheaper to insure modified than not by about £200... go figure :p
