There are no set times to be outside in your drive working on your car.

But there are certain hours where you have to be quiet. I think it's between 11pm and 7pm or something. It's the same time frame in which car horns aren't allowed to be used or Police Sirens.

Personally I don't give a shit and I'll do what I want outside when I want, but my house is quite far from other houses round it so it's a bit tolerable. Also I don't have neighbours on one side, because they are French and next door is their holiday home.

People will try it on,especially if you look like you'll be a pushover. I had some smarmy neighbour suggest i get a new car in front of two other neighbours last time i was working on it,and i put him politely straight with a smile - telling him how long i intended to keep it,probably handing it to my kid despite he/she not being born for a few more months yet..

Another moaned that id woke him up at 9:30am on a wednesday when i started making an exhaust,but the other neighbours (including a bouncer) sided with me,and i never got hassle again.

One 'neighbours association' prat even complained i was parking a van at home which was sign written. Against the rules,apparently. But he had an advertisement for Zenith double glazing in his window,he had to for the discount on his windows. I enjoyed telling him how i was gonna force him to remove it,and pay Zenith the hundreds of pounds he'd have to pay.

He was practically begging me to forget the whole thing. Made my day..

They just dont want you making the place untidy. Caravan owners get it,too. Its all about keeping up appearances and being a good source of banter/bitching and i dont care for it. Half the time they're just unhappy,need to get a life and use you as an excuse to moan. Fucking Eastenders wannabes,dont interest me.

If you're being a pain,generally disruptive and anti social,of course you deserve resistance. Otherwise,they're just moaners and every street has one - be polite,smile,and give them the subtle mordant lingual finger.

priceless! Now you can look at that person everytime, knowing that they hate the fact you owned them! Because they are probably still gutted about it
