iv just started getting a problem with the brakes on my 6n 1.6 1995.

sometimes when i go to brake the pedal is very hard and as i press it the abs starts to kick in as i press it harder it seems to correct itself. it seems to happen most as i am aproching a junction etc that is going down hill. i have no abs light on the dash or anything, it is working because when i start her up it goes out as normal after a few seconds?...... any ideas guys?

First,check the vacuum hose linked between the inlet manifold and the brake drum.Then do a scan to check the ABS sensors.

Shouldn't that read 'between inlet manifold and brake servo'?

had any work done on the brakes or suspension?

check that the plugs on the sensors are in correctly,thers two spade terminals in each sensor for the wiring to plug into

if not put in properly a terminal could have got bent, shorting against the other terminal

this causing the abs to think the wheels locked

thanks guys, will go through the things mentioned, did coillys about 3 months ago just started playing up now sohopefully not that.. it may be a short iv been through some deep puddles recently in this shit weather so might be that.
