Hey guys,

I trawled through 29 pages of search results, possibly missed this come up before but hopefully not...

Basically, I need to change my discs and pads, but I've got the opportunity to swap over to the 6n2 gti brake set up with practically new discs and pads. I've got a 1.4 16v 6n2 (75bhp :( ), so what I need to know is this:

I know that to do this from an 8v you need to swap the hubs as well, would this be needed between these two?

Does anyone know the size difference, if any, between the gti and 16v discs? I know the gti will fit 14" wheels over and I'm sure they're 256mm but I can't remember if the ones on my 16v are slightly smaller, and sites like eurocarparts list my car's discs as both 239 and 256 for the front, obviously it can't be both :p

Any other advice, or information would be a good help!

Jack your car up and have a look if the carrier is built into the hub or if its a separate part. This is just my ramblings, could be right, could be wrong. I don't know. If its separate then I'd imagine you'd be okay just sticking the GTI calipers on them. But I'd imagine the 75 brakes would be 256 solid discs and the GTI ones would be vented. I'm sure someone will know for certain. But knowing what you already have might help as someone with a GTI might know what they have and between you guys you can work out whats different and whats the same.

Aaaight, cheers for that, I keep meaning to get a looky at them, but it's either pissing it down, or I'm not near the garage so can't get the car up as the normal jack won't fit underneath, and I can't find any wood etc to roll on to :p I will find out asap, the other parts are at the garage, so I'll just take it all off and give it a go, if it needs extras then I'll have to do it all again haha my own laziness though :p cheers again!
