I used to get Max Power regularly, still got one from 2003 with a baby blue 205 on the cover, first copy I ever bought was the one with the Mynheer Rover 25 on the cover

you obv aint bought it recently, it is quite a good read compared to how it used to be

This is a shame, not long after Max Power cleaned it's act up and stopped being ridiculous, they go out of business!

theres half the reason. it's always got that stigma. you mention modified car to someone, and 2 things that get mentioned are 'Boy racer' and 'Max Power' victim of its own success i guess. in the same way you mention Max Power and you think big bodykitted corsas, where as infact, its not like that.

it'll be sad to see it go, but it has gone downhill lately in my opinion. its main rival is Fast Car, and they seem to be really on the ball with current trends and their features and photography are alot better.

there internet wont have helped. why go out and buy a magazine when you can read the build thread? i only buy a magazine now if someone i know has a feature. where as i was buying Max Power before i could drive, from about 10 to 17, dreaming of owning a car like that and seeing it in a magazine. i still want a magazine feature now!

No you're right! I haven't read it in years, that's just what i remember being in it. I'd much rather buy Retro cars or PVW over it now though so never bother with it.

Must have lost their "teenager" market when they started featuring decent cars. Shows how much teenagers know/want to know about cars.

All about the mental looking bodykits, 20" rims and massive subs! This gets you women.. guaranteed. The type of woman can't be guaranteed however, but I bet that they're "mostly" the same

Didn't really expect this to happen to Max Power, surely the most well known modified car magazine.

Revs I could understand, it was pretty lame and the cars were garish.

I've got stacks of copies on Max Power going back to early 1999, amazing to see the difference in the both the quality of the magazine itself but also the type of cars they featured, compared to now. It wasn't as if they hadn't kept up with current trends, so this news is a bit of a surprise really.

Then again, thinking about my reasons for not buying it so often these days, and the main one is pretty much because I can see virtually the same content online, for free. Which is important as monthly magazines like these aren't cheap, nearly a fiver now iirc.

I bought the mag like everyone else when I was younger, I have seen they moved away from the

whole maasive rims and bodykits gets you laid. Its a shame as its always good to have a different

perspective on the whole modified car scene. I think some VW people seem to forget they did not

invent every idea, like the euro look, race look, jdm etc etc.

At the end of the day though not everything can last for ever.

bad times, i haven't bought the mag in year's now but i used to have most copies of it going right back to the mid 90's up until i stopped buying it. i only stopped getting it because other thing's in my life took over my interest in modified car's for a while, and when i got that interest back i was looking for different thing's from car mag's. growing up tho it was my bible and it seems almost unbelievable that it could just go out of business like this, it was by far the best mag of it's kind when i used to read it.

gutted for the staff as well, it's a bad time to be in this sort of situation
