This is a shame, not long after Max Power cleaned it's act up and stopped being ridiculous, they go out of business!

Must have lost their "teenager" market when they started featuring decent cars. Shows how much teenagers know/want to know about cars.

All about the mental looking bodykits, 20" rims and massive subs! This gets you women.. guaranteed. The type of woman can't be guaranteed however, but I bet that they're "mostly" the same

I didn't buy it,i only remember it as a parent of the barry boy culture of modifying,enticing young lads to spend their student loans on the mag's many sponsors using rough topless school girls as bait,but it seems a shame none the less.

Lets hope the gap in the shelf is replaced with more motoring flavour,instead of another womens tea-time crossword and telly layered Jeremy Kyle style shock tactic drama content. Or a mag full of clowns,cunningly re-named celebrities,modelling expensive clothes made by kids.

It's a gap that's unlikely to be filled by another mag of the same type. TBH I'll be interested to see what happens to the other mags, and how long they last before budget cuts and a declining readership finishes them off too. It's a flat market, killed off by the internet being so popular and so useful, whereas magazines are overpriced and by their very nature are always a few weeks behind whatever's going on.

max power was on the ball back in the day body kits was cool and most people had them like in the next 10-15years people will laff at our eurod/smooth cars etc shame to see them go had some gr8 girls in there lol

its all down to the recession... I pop in to the shops on my lunch and no-longer pick up a copy of PVW, it's £5 that I don't have to spend and as my money gets me less and less, it's something I can do without.

Same will go for max power readers i'm assuming.

years back it was the biggest modifying mag in the country, it's 'bad name' only seems to come from people who either didn't buy it or are too scene to admit to buying it.

i doubt this will have much to do with it's image as there has always been demand for this sort of mag, it's probably the mag that most people that are into car's started off reading. i guess it's just a sign of the times, as said a lot of people are tightening their belts and would rather just look at the same car's on the net for free than pay a fiver for the privilege.

there is no saying that PVW won't be next, i mean lets face it, pretty much all the car's featured in there are featured in build threads posted on most of the sites you will be on if you are in this scene, they will also of been at meet's or shows that you may of been to. while times are hard will enough people carry on buying it to keep the publishers happy?

It is a changing world online media is takening over smart phones allow you to browse while your away from your pc, we search online for the latest products. I can remember buying car magaziens to find out if there were any new parts or had the price dropped for suspension kit etc. Getting advice etc which now is so easy to find online.

A car magazine is a luxary I cannot currently afford, I used to subscribe to VW motoring and that died many years ago.

tbh the usual car for years in Max Power had 20" chromes and a body kit but of late, like Fast Car, they have changed much like the car scenes have changed and have featured more VW friendly cars. But tbh the body kit era of it put me off it forever, they were bad

Them mynheer bodykitted cars were absolutely awesome; so were the delta 4 kitted calibras!

Used to buy it every month for years!

thing is though, that was the 'in thing' of those days, not just a Max Power association.

i'm sure people will look back and think how tacky smoothed 6n polo's look on silly little wheels and stretched tyres in years to come.

I never read Max Power, I was a Fast Car lad, but even so, I started off by bumming the huge body kits and 20" spinners.

I don't think this has much to do with the old content of the mag, afterall I still see more cars on the streets that fit into Max P's old style than the current 'Euro' style..

It is down to technology putting pressure on such publications.. Any magazine could be next, I wouldn't be surprised if it was PVW.. it seems that the VAG scene is one of, if not the most internet-based, people are going to become increasingly less willing to spend that £5 a month for stuff they can see online for free..

yeah your right MartinB, that was one of the scenes of those days but it still didn't mean they were good, i thought they were awful then and i still think they are today, but scenes have changed and the people who would have had corsa's with 22's, bmw halo headlights, lexus rear lights and bought max power, now buy max power or fast car and have slammed c2's on wellers.

i also reckon people will call 6n's with splits on bad in the future too as someone of here's had theirs featured on barryboys already, just depends on the person really, if you like it good for you
