Today i had the bonnet open for a little while when i was wiring in a graphic equilizer from the battery, It was raining while i was doing this, however after the installation the car wont start, starter motor turns but the engine wont go, i ended up flattening the battery tring to get it going, then i tried to jump start it with my girlfriends mk4 polo and still no start, anyone know waht the cause could be?? Could it be that too much rain water got to the engine?

Leave it overnight and see if it dries off, else, it's probably going to be the dizzy cap is wet.

You'll need to check for spark! :)

Also, never run the starter for so long that you've managed to flatten the battery - it'll just shag it! :/

Cheers for the responce! I think i best leave it overnight i put the battery on charge so it should be ready by tomo, just hope i can get in running before work!! Its normaly a fantastic starter and runner since i replaced to choke.

So if i leave it overnight it should hopefully sort it out? I'm just worrie coz it looks like its gonna be a damp night, is there anyway i can dry it out? maybe remove the distibutor cap and dry ect?

Id still give it a good check. Spray some WD-40 in your dizzy cap and around electrical items that got wet.
