As some of you probably know, I do like wheels! so i've bought yet another set to do some work on! This time some classic 90's rims, Azev A's in 16x7.5j Flavour.

I'll start off with a run down of some of my previous refurb attempts.

First set of wheels I refurbed with my dad a few years ago now, had come off a fabia VRS that had been on its side...

Done using only rattle cans! Not bad for our first attempt really!

Then I did a set of Mondeo ST24 Alloys for my mate's fiesta. (Yes I know they're fugly, but he liked them)

Then stripped and polished a set of TT comps, inserts painted grey. (again with the help of my dad!)

Me and my mate burna did a quick refurb on these wheels that cost him only £30!

Then I bought my first set of BBS! Painted by myself.

DIY Tyre fitting on my Borbet A's... lol

Brock B1's, the lips on these were wrecked :(

Didn't know where I wanted to go with these, so grey centre with holographic metal flake and polished lip!

Then went for silver and flake

Then Enter 2nd set of BBS, RX2's

Split and polished

Bolts too!

Centres Painted

Back together with new caps

Remotec Alulines, silver lips and Audi Daytona grey centres. Refurbed for my lass.

BBS RS, Refurbed for my brother, Red centres with red metal flake, polished dishes & bolts (FOR SALE)

Also had these for a while, need lacquer peel sorting, not sure what to do with them... something special, it'll come to me eventually! (there are 4)

Brings us up to date with these... the latest project, Azev A's

Not sure where i'm going with them yet... need some centre cap stickers, was thinking either a high metallic silver or high metallic grey... not sure tbh!

I knew these would be around again soon, second person (i know of) to let on about their 90's acceptance and get the Azevs out. If you need any spares, I know a man with at least 2 sat in hedges/under cars (JVWA, theberton).

I really love those Remotech Alu's. You still got em?

Ho you refurbing the curbs and missing chunks are you using liquid metal? Filler? Only problem is that they can never be polished up unless you weld them?

Yes yes, Tig welding and smoothing back would be the way if you wanted to polish. My local powdercoaters use Isopon metalic (Alu-based filler) to fill minor curbage. Apparently it "shrinks" a bit in the oven, but if you were spraying this wouldn't be a problem.

good work. now how do I got about getting metal from just bare metal to mirror polished?

I want to polish up some dishs.

Is it possible for you to give me some quick steps, and equipment needed?

well tbh if you're polishing dishes you're probably best off doing it by hand, work your way from 800 grit paper to 1500 or 2000 grit (wet) and then use peek metal polish or autosol to bring it to a shine.

Love type A's. And those remotecs are awesome too

is that literally it? just keep sanding and sanding getting higher then finish off with a metal polish?

if the surfaces are flat then ideally a block is good to avoid ripples!

dont rush the polishing and dont skip through the grades quick....the sore fingers will be worth the end result!

This inspires me to pull my finger out and refurb my Rj's..

get them done :) its really worthwhile when you see the end result.

Project Azev's are now free of tyres, been concentrating on other stuff recently (my recaro's) so i'm gonna crack on with these now the recaro's are sorted :)

How did you get a mint polished finish on the dishes on the brocks? As you said they were fucked? Have the same problem :)

I basically used a DA with an 80 disk on it and shaved off the lip, for example on the azev's, all the damage is limited to this extra lip, so I just shaved it off on the brocks.

Tonight I've managed to get 2 wheels sorted ready for primer, gonna do the other 2 and the centre caps tomorrow before paint... Although i'm torn between two colours.
