Going to Holland next year wondering if low cars have any trouble on them?

I've done it, no problems as such.

Exhaust caught, bot no worse than it does on the average speedbump.

Depends on the ferry though. Also, with some you can request not to go up ramps etc if they have a floor thats level (where the trucks go)

I agree with Toby. I've taken my Mini on the ferry to France several times. It's seriously low, as in the subframe and exhaust about an inch off the floor. Most of the ferry operators will look under the car as you board the ferry and will direct you appropriately.

Just worth a mention though - lots of ferries have large tie-down points which are basically a big chain link sticking out the floor. Watch those as sometimes you'll have to steer round them!

Other than that I've never had an issue.

I`ve been to Belgium four times and Austria once and never had a problem, think its a bit of a myth it being hard to get on ferries. Never seen anybody on a forum say they struggled, just go diagonally if ure worried

It would be a problem if you where really really low. As you would just beach it.

Scott's 6n2 for example.. would get stuck.

But there aren't a great deal of people that are that low.

we took a mk1 golf cabby - 26 years old, 2500 miles to croatia and back earlier in the year, didnt miss a beat. just had to top it up with water every couple of days as it was dripping slightly from the thermostat housing (not enough to stop us going)

as said above, just make sure your car is well maintained, and you have a select few spares with you, for any small problems (clutch cable, throttle cable, bulbs) etc and you cant go far wrong!
