Right have some seats that do not have the tilt handles (left hand side of the seat) so dont have height adjust. They are from a 6N2. I want to put them into my car (polo variant) which has the same floorpan (so i guess seats too) as a seat ibiza.

The seats in the car currently are grey and shitty but do have the handles that adjust the height and so what i want to know is can i remove the frames from my ibiza seats and attach them to the 6N2 seats without the need of welding etc as both the seats can be fit into either cars so must be pretty similar on the underside?

Anyone done this or know if it can be done?

Just had a quick check on etka and the seat bases for the variant/6n2 are identical with there being 2 different part numbers for the bases (one being height adjustable and one not being adjustable).

So as another question how difficult is it to seperate the seat part from the frame and attach to another?

any help would be awesome need to help brother out.

Well the part numbers for all the bases are the same so i guess it is just a case of seperating the top part from the bottom but as i said i am unsure as to how this is performed.

Should be having an educational piss around at this at some point in teh near future and if so i will throw some pics up.

Still if anyone has done it i would love to hear it. Even if someone has removed the lower frame from the seats to fit some aftermarket seats. Would just like to know how i go about doing it before i ruin something :)

Maybe sooner than you expected has! For mk3 golf vr6 leathers but I'd imagine (maybe double check between golf and polo variant with etka) there all the same bases if they all fit the same!!

That is pretty much what i wanted. So basically everything apart from the welding part in that thread.

Other thing is that the seats that will be going in are from a three door and the seats that are coming out are from a five door. Should this make much difference?

Never mucked around with seats or their mechanisms.

Nah wouldn't make any difference but it makes it more roomy if your chillin in th back and need more leg room! Haha! And make it easier to clean I'd imagine!! Yeah just strip down parts 1&2 then reverse! I wa starting to think this wa gonna be a ball ache but that makes it better!

Yeah and obviously the only reason they don't work in a 5 door is you cant get anyone into the back with out some acrobatic action.

I know which seats fit the car i am wanting to know more on if i can take the seats off the bases and swap and change them.

just go for it, I stripped my valver seats down with no problems at all :)

Ahhh man that sucks balls mate. They do pop up quite regularly though so just keep your peepers peeled.

If I'm having a go at it you're more than welcome to come and laugh at me swearing at broken seat trimmings.

I recently fitted some buckets into my 6k, which involved taking apart the seats from a golf estate. Unfortunately, time was an issue so the angle grinder was my best friend and I didnt treat the rest of the seats well, except for the very bottom of the subframes as I needed that bit. But, it did look like the upholstery could come off and go back on fairly easily although looking a bit time consuming.
