Anyone else finding it hard to sell a car?

Featured Replies

Put both cars up for sale and all I've had is time wasters and people that just dont turn up.

Even no interest on ebay with £100 starting on both, and you can usually count on it selling with ebay.

Anyone finding the market slow?

Its wierd as the usual easy ways of selling such as ebay aren't working. Prob as were near crim, but still usually expect some interest/offers.

The used car market seems to change within days. So annoying because the week you sell it for peanuts you can guarantee the prices

will go up the week after grrrrr!

hi yes, the car market is becoming a right pain! took us 2 months to sell a Rover 620 SLi.

Great time for buyers, shit time for sellers

Time of the year really doesn't help either. month before Christmas.. last thing on peoples shopping list is a new/2nd car.

Yeah i expected it to be slower this time of year, but it seems very slow. Think the only way is to sell cheap but then i dont want to lose out on too much money.

its annoying cos i sold my mk2 gti for about £600, then 2 months later i see the other gti's going for much more money, and some of them were right shitters in comparison to mine lol :(

very slow atm..imo

I have had some interesting 'offers' for my Golf. People are under the impression i need to sell, one guy was amusing and said "£1500 or i walk away." and off he went, its all timewasters at this time of year. It is right its a buyers market right now but they all think sellers are desperate to sell.

To let anyone who is thinking of making an offer on my car its £2250ono and i am lucky enough to be in a position where i don't need to sell. I just wont buy people xmas presents

I'm the same...

Had my GTi up for sale for 6 weeks, I advertised in all the usual places too, like pistonheads, ebay, different forums etc and got maximum exposure.

I think in 6 weeks I literally had 3 people interested. One person didn't show up for a viewing and just ignored me. the other two just offered me 1k less than it was advertised and didn't understand the principle of ovno. I eventually took the car off the market. It will get re-advertised about February time as the market should pick back up from then.. I hope.. Well it better as I want a new car!

Unfortunately it is a buyers market so unless your car is something real special or obscenely too cheap not to buy; you'll struggle to sell.

Swaps on the other hand are good.. I got loads of offers for swaps, although they were all crap. 'Will you swap my beat up 1.3 mk2 golf for your polo gti, straight swap?' - 'NO!'

Yeah same with my BM its a 328i Sport and has been on the market for a couple of months now and is currently on ebay. Its on for an aboslute bargain of £1500 which is the lowest I'll go as I can break the car for more than that. If it doesn't sell this time arround I think i'll just cover it up and wait till next year!

February is what I'm thinking, when my tax runs out this month it will go in the garage for a while.

Yup,

February-march is my guess, everyone starts to recover from the Xmas/January sales spending binge and the weather picks up a little so people want a new car.. I really hope so anyway.

gotta say i thought i would have a SHED load of interest in the caddy for the asking price, all I've had is alot of time wasters and silly offers :/ so I've decided to use it as my daily, i would rather have the benefit of cheap day to day use in a very useful vehicle than see it go for fuck all, but thats becoz I'm in the same boat as kerrly, i dont HAVE to sell it, thank god lol

I've just had time wasters for both my cars. Its just so annoying, as espec when you stay in when they want to view and dont turn up. I dont want to get rid of any and wouldnt need to if had a job, but my work couldnt change my hours for my 3rd yr uni times.

yep, my TT's been up forsale for over a month!

no money spending this close to xmas. Great for picking up bargains though!

I guess even hairdressers are feeling the credit crunch eh Neil?

Or do you's prefer to be called "stylist's" now?

'Gay icon' is the one he rolls with.

yea, cant beat the look on a fast ford owners face when you do um in a TT!

I wont go into the argument again... :ninja:

Interested in mk2/3 polos and mk2 golfs, budget around £1k, just seeing whats available... If anyone's got something that doesnt have fur stuck to the doorcards for a fair price, fire me a pm maybe i can solve that slow market problem :)
