if fitted correctly should hold air with no leaks.

Sounds like they aren't fitted properly. 185/45/15 on a 8J rim isn't much of a stretch so shouldn't leak really. I ran mine for a long time with no issues.

take the wheel off, pour a little water the whole way round the bead, if it bubbles its leaking

According the the engineers at Nankang, the 185/45 arent designed to fit to anything wider than 7,5x15, so sometimes this happens. I know 9olo have the same problem

Just double check that the bead is seated correctly. It is not recomended to drive on them if they leak

if you use a bit of soapy water it will show itself more if it is leaking take em back and ask them to re seal it did they bead blast them btw ???

bead blast
?? I'm a tyer noob

:?

Bead blaster is basically a big tank that holds air. For example ours holds around 150PSI. Has a valve on the front which you open and it releases the air. If you do it into a tyre it makes it pop the tyre onto the rim.

Frode, the 185/45's are fine on a 8.5", it's the 165/45 conti's on the 8" that i have issues with.
