Mk3 headunit wiring

Featured Replies

Hey

I tried fitting my headunit into my new mk3 today. One of the previous owners has cut the wires and there are no iso connections. I've just got a red wire and black wire.

I've managed to wire up my speakers to the headunit's iso connector, but can't get it to power on. Does anyone know which of the wires is permanent live and which is switched live? I've tried red to black/yellow to red and red to red/yellow to black, but can't get it working.

Cheers

Should be a blue and a brown in there somewhere. The brown is the earth and the blue the switch signal for amp/auto aerial etc. The red or grey/red wire is the fused(F11 in the fuse box) live, and the brown/red wire is the switched live. All according to Haynes

Cheers, I might have to dig around the dash a bit more. I could only see those two wires :(
