I used to feel the same about them. They'd be on a Jag or Range Rover,and you'd just think the driver was a penis.

But then i saw one on a totally standard Escort 1.3L.

I thought it looked good,but i only noticed it because it had four digits.

My brother has one on his VXR and even though its his name most people dont notice. Why? Because its a seven digit plate. So is yours i suspect,being a 53 plate. Who's gonna notice?

People notice mine,as its only five digits. But its only ever been all good. And given the car,it doesn't make me look like i have issues.

You're only gonna be stalling at junctions for a few weeks. But if you reject the plate,you'll all remember that for time,and you may wish later that you'd kept it - mine's worth more now than when i bought it,people trade them,whatever your views of them or where those views have stemmed from.

To answer your question if you must reject it - you must run the new plate until you get it taken off. It'll cost an 85 quid fee to either get your old plate back if it was put on retention,or get a random equivalent plate the DVLA will choose for you if your old plate wasn't saved.

So reject the plate and you could end up with **53EDY

i dont get this. who cares hat a plate says. i like private plates. I've got a 5 digit T 'suffix' plate that i had on a mk1 golf years ago so i kept it on corrado. its interesting. only one i dont like are stupidly spaced ones.

i got my car with a p/plate and i hate it as it says HEY 61N and so many people shouting 'hey 6 inch isn't much to be proud of!' (to name 1 among many) takes the piss it is soon to be sold though :)
