My new 6n2 Silver

Featured Replies

Hey everyone

Been lurking on here for a year or so, first one when I got my old car ( red (pink) 6n that fell apart last month.

£200 car, that would of cost thousands to get through an MOT... so thought it time to move on and get something better...

Had a few days to find a car so spent a whole day on the net searching for a few things, and after all the looking found this beauty of a 1.4 mk5 an hour or so from home for 1k

Needed a new starter but still, had just had new brakes all round, new clutch, recond box, 11 months MOT etc , all for £1000

Guy I got it from obv just had no idea what it was worth.

Anyway got it home, took the white alloys off my old car, sprayed em black and put them on...

All done, found out when it was in having the starter done its on lowered springs so its a bit lower and firmer than stock so handels nice to.

Anyway few shitty pics from the phone:

what low cost mods do people suggest next ? I wouldnt mind adding a few bits and bobs to the engine but I take it that will void my insurance ?

Let me know what you all think...

I have seen this car a few times lately, you are just down the road!

Small world :)

Black grills on the bumper I think, looks a little odd in silver.

Planning to lower it more?

I have a GTi grill?

The clips are ALL broken though but could still be chucked in some how lol

Ha yeh I'm in Tavi, so not to far...

And I still have a can of black left over from the wheels so may just spray the grills black...

And I might lower it more but tbh I would rather get a new exhaust, and do a few small bits to the engine...

and I'm a MTB photographer so spend a lot of time going down rough as shit fire roads and over feilds etc so to low will be pointless for me...

Know if you can get chips for these ? 1.4 8v ?

I think you can but there wouldnt be a huge amount of point without other mods. Stainless manifolds are apparently quite good for these engines.

Hmm, it'll have to be airride then mate ;)

Yeah seen it parked under the bridge a few times now. Get those grills black asap, the middle one just pulls out and the side grills one screw and pops out. Leave the top one or get a gti grill without the badge though or it look stupid on non gti.

For the love of god please dont plaster some stupid exhaust on it. Dont even bother with anything related to "chip" etc there is no point.

ha dont worry, If i got a new exhast wouldnt be a big loud thing, just as I'm keeping it for a few years I wouldnt mind making it a big faster as time goes on.

I am not one for loud showy stuff, just tastefull and performance enhancing parts only really.

But will get the grills off tomoz and get them sprayed...

And wouldnt just spraying the top grill black but leaving the silver vw badge look better than having the bottom grills black and top one silver?

And take it you work in tavi then, will keep an eye out.

As standard the bottom grills are black plastic and top grill will be colour coded unless gti one. Suppose painting it black would be different so why not yeah!

I pretty much live in tavi with the missus so go up and down the hill everyday, not always in polo though sometimes in my Renault 5 or missus 182

GTi grill and splitter and you'll be sorted! changed the front end of my old one a huge amount

How much will a GTI grill and splitter cost?

I got a grill and splitter from someone on here for £60 posted.

The grills come up pretty often on ebay, not sure about the splitters.

I have a GTi grill spare

But clips all broken, unless you can make it stay in some how, with the bonnet shut you would never know
