Sorry to have to bring a post like this into the forum, but I am pretty annoyed with a fellow member, Flameboy506, letting me down on a deal.

I was offering my CarPC for sale, and just after I removed the motherboard flameboy506 (Ben) said he was interested, and we negotiated a price for the system, minus the main board. I agreed to get a few extra cables together that were needed so he could get a replacement main board, plug it in and everything would be working. I even found him some suitable boards. He agreed and said as he had sold his wheels now had the money.

I probably shouldnt have bought the cables until he paid me a deposit, but he 'appeared' genuine, and I'm generally a easy going person.

I gave him a couple of updates on the progress, but didnt hear back - no problem I thought, as it was just FYI stuff. Then Friday morning I told him it was all ready to go, and could he send over the agreed £230.

Nothing.

Reminded him Sunday. Nothing.

Now he has been active on the forum, updating his car thread and the message tracking centre shows he has read my messages, but not replied.

So I am now out of pocket for about £10 worth of cables, and now have to sell the parts separatly as I previously planned. And I made it clear to him I needed the money for Christmas presents.

So thanks a lot Ben;- you have cost me money, delayed the sale of my parts, and once I sell them probably won't get the money in time for Christmas.

Yeah you should have probably got a deposit off them before spending any money etc.

But it doesn't hurt to send a reply saying "sorry mate but i have had a change of plans , can't buy the gear any more"

I always continue with my first plans whilst listening to offers etc. If that makes sense.

i know the feeling, lost out on a fucking mint car because some one agreed to buy my polo then didn't get in touch (didn't reply to texts, didn't answer the phone), then days letter text to say he could no longer buy it. i put it back up for sale but then got a call off the bloke with the car i wanted saying some one else wanted it, so i just told him to sell it to him. proper gutted me

tbh theres pleanty of messers on here, still damned annoying though. some peeps just dont think about there actions and how it affects others

Thats why I've stopped 'holding' stuff for people unless they pay a deposit. Time wasters who want everything but can afford nothing.

However, i don't expect people to hold anything for me.

If i want something that bad, I'll offer a deposit if i want it holding.

And the '1st dibs' thing is just a load of rubbish.

Sorry I haven't been able to reply, I have been really busy with uni work and haven't signed on properly only brifly on my iPhone which won't let me message back, I have sent the money via pay pal, and I have the email recpit to prove it, I am sorry for the inconviance that this has caused

-You have not sent the payment, I have checked Paypal and there is nothing there. I suggest you attempt to reverse the payment as its gone to someone else.

Forget it now. I gave up waiting for your possible eventual reply, and have sold half of the parts elsewhere and the remains are going on eBay.

I do not appreciate your lack of response, especially as I now have parts that I ordered specifically for you that are of no use to me. So I am out of pocket because you couldn't be arsed to see the deal through that you committed to, and didnt even feel it necessary to tell me you were not going to be paying.

Don't waste any more of either of our time, I dont want any bullshit stories about Paypal messing it up etc etc, heard it all before. Thanks for wasting my time and money, and making my life a load more stressful finding funding for Christmas.

I have myself have spoke to people about buying things from them, and then due to time or money problems not been able too follow through with it, I have never asked them to hold it for me and if i always send them a pm to say i can't buy it if i said i will.

No offence but i think the OP is in the wrong here, i would never spend money or hold something for someone on the promise they will buy it people are unreliable especially over the internet, probably get abused for saying it.

Just because there is a thread that names and shames about scammers on the forum doesnt mean we need name and shame threads about people not messaging you back instantly, everyone on here has a life outside of the forum and things crop up where you cant reply of cant be bothered as i have before but i will get back to people just sometimes CBA. Plus you dont go out and buy things for someone who hasnt payed you or even left a deposit, school boy error I'm afraid. Be more careful, and by the way he may be genuine and pay you for the items, just be patient.

And buying the cables yourself is in no way his fault. 100% bought that on yourself.

Him ignoring you is in no way him saying 'i don't want them' Its just him being as he said, busy.

He clearly still wants it, as he says hes sent you the money. And maybe it has gone to the incorrect person. Making a mistake in an email is easy to do. Quite often the person giving the buyer the email's fault. Something as simple as starting with a capital (I've had this done to me several times, i always double check now as more often than not its force of habit to start it with a capital)

If he has time to update his thread he has time to reply to a message to simply say my payment will be late or not buying them at all. I've had a couple of these recently.. i dont see anything wrong in singling him out.. he couldnt be bothered to respond so your obviously going to be pissed off

He's not entered in a contract with you or anything. This dude doesn't owe you diddley squat. If he says he wants them, then changed his mind, whether he just doesn't want them, his circumstances have changed or he simply was dreaming and couldn't afford them in the first place, maybe replying to you isn't his priority but they aren't on his mind any more.

Yes it would be well mannered and show etiquette to give a simple reply saying he doesn't want them any more, but he doesn't have to. All he did was show interest, until someone has paid up, don't take things as gospel that they will buy them. How many times have you gone into a shop and seen something you want and discussed it with your mates saying you want it?

I personally think your way over the top singling someone out and quite frankly pathetic. I suggest you stop being a bitch, change your tampon and get one with your ever so dramatic life.
