can you give details of the car and model year etc mate it will help people to evaluate the cost of materials they are pretty common things on most polos and parts are readilly available it shouldnt cost too much to have repaired

complete new strut on one side and dont know if its cheaper to buy a wishbone rather than bush and pay labour for them to press it in

are you doing work yourself

no I'm not got a mate mercanic

no I'm not got a mate mercanic

garages in dundee charge on average 35 an hour labour so 1 hour labour plus parts plus vat, the strut top mount and bearing can prob be bought relativly cheap...

europarts online quote £8 for top mount and bushes around a tenner

50 for mot and parts and labour shouldnt be much more than 100

maybe someone of this site local to you can do work for cheap

what parts are needed please help

suspension arm bush, cheaper and easier to buy a whole arm from GSF

and the macpherson thing is more commonly called a "top mount"

Top mount and wishbone, haven't looked but I'd guess about £30 all in from here www.vwspares.co.uk

1 hour labour, 2 at a push. Done within the retest period, so £100 absolute tops I would think.

so i need

top mount

and a pair of wishbones??

if need be just take your mot fail sheet to gsf!

they can see what you need then, it should say on the sheet which side is needed etc
