  • Are you plastic welding with the bumper fitted to the car? I think the end result will show whether the bumper will suit the car or not, as we can't see that much atm.

The Polo getting some preheating with the blockheater. Thermometer saying -16,3 °C and droppig...

Not that it wouldn't start but it saves the engine as coldstarting a diesel (or any engine for that matter) at temperatures below -10 °C kills the engine even faster...

Thank god we have the Polo... At these temperatures the almost new battery died in the wife's almost new Volvo, but with a little persuation from the Polo it started anyways. The Polo rolls daily to work in these temperatures too. :) Wheels feels a bit oval and the suspension is rock hard... 8-)

The truth about Finns...

+15 °C, Spanish wear caps, gloves and winter coats, Finns are sunbathing.

+10 °C, French desperately try to get their central heating on. Finns plant flowers.

+5 °C, Italian cars won't start. Finns drive with convertibles.

0 °C, Pure water freezes. Water in river Vantaa thickens a bit.

−5 °C, First people are found frozen in California. Finnish midsummer festival ends.

−10 °C, Scottish turn the heat on in their houses. Finns start to use long-sleeve shirts.

−20 °C, Swedes stay indoors. Finns are having last barbeque before winter.

−30 °C, Half of the Greek people have frozen to death. Finns start to dry their laundry indoors.

−50 °C, Polar bears evacuate North Pole. Finnish army starts it's winter training.

−70 °C, Siberian people are moving to Moscow. Finns are furious since the Koskenkorva booze can't be stored outdoors anymore.

−273 °C, Absolute zero. Finns admit that it is quite cold outside.

−300 °C, Hell freezes over. Finland wins the football World Cup.

Only just seen this - looks good!

You Finns are crazy, I was in Saariselka last year cold weather testing some cars - the coldest it got was -37°C while we were there, and everyone just carries on as normal. But in England if it gets to -10°C the whole country stops.

Back again!

Sorry, no visual progress made during winter... The winter seems to have long death spasms too... Snowing today again even though today is the first day for the summerwheel season. (In other words studded wheels are prohibited unless the weather demands it..)

Anyways, I took the summerwheels from storage last weekend and they will get the paint I was supposed to give them last summer before I switch to them again.

Was out to a carwreckyard yesterday to find a new groundcable to my other summer dailydriver, the -66 beetle.

While searching for a suitable cable in all the wrecks my eyes stopped at something familiar!

Polofaceliftboot.jpg

Had to ask how much for the rearboot. The yardowner said: If you disassemble it yourself you can have it for 30€..

Guess if I took the offer? 8-) I also took the groundcable from the Polo. Fits perfect!

Here's the other daily driver:

First start this year after 6V->12V conversion in this

This have been on hold over the past winter just been driving daily to work and home... Having too many projects ongoing at the same time also slows down the ones with lower priority...

Yesterday I finally got it sanded some and primered the first layer. Still needs some putty to finish off a few flaws and spots.

This is cracking mate! Keep it up!
