Ok. Here it is now finished! I think my brainstorm a few years ago seems to have paid off even though it took me pretty long to finish it due to a lot of other projects etc. with higher priority....

  • Are you plastic welding with the bumper fitted to the car? I think the end result will show whether the bumper will suit the car or not, as we can't see that much atm.

Yes, it was the original plan and I will stick to it. The front will be based on a few Audi parts though. Allready got those. I dont promise anything regarding the timeline though...

My job will be moved closer to home within a month so I will be using the Aircooled VW more during summer so who knows... ;)

The original frontbumper was injured in battle the past winter and yesterday I took me the time to strip it all out in the front...

Been trying to figure out a solution for the grille and badge the past weeks.... I cut out the dual ring logo today ans cut it up for making a round logo. I then remembered the Polo original grille... tested welding some scrap parts from each grille and realized that they melted nicely and strong together....

So at first I planned to just adapt the logopart but then got carried away in the cutting.... :D

And here the Original grille finally is adapted to the Audi grille...

Now the grille is done!

Next is to weld the two halves of the bumper together again in the middle. Then start cutting and preshape the bumper around the headlights...

This is sooo close to being done!

Now the bumperhalves have joined together at the bottom too.. Next is to cut some around the headlights and fabricate mounts for the bumper. After this I can finish off the transition form bumper to wings. And when the bumper is finished and mounted I only need to stretch the front hood to meet the grille..

Sorry to say this but I sold the Polo 3-4 weeks ago unfinished due different reasons. Anyhow I did repair the rust issues it had before I MOT'd it prior to the sale. Sold it within an hour after I put it for sale on a Finnish vwtuninggroup on Facebook... The new owner have now painted the front and fitted the chrometrim on the grille. Still original lenght on the enginelid. But looks like the chrometrim lines up pretty nicely with the lid... :)
